    CC DH build viable/recommended?

    Hey all,

<Background> I've been playing a DH since the launch, only about 150 hours total but I am up to Inferno Act 2; like a lot of people. I can handle most of Act 1 quite well without dying too much. I don't manage to play enough it seems to make gobs of gold to improve my equipment significantly enough to move on to Act 2 inferno and it not be anything but tedious.</Background>.

I've been trying to figure out what makes the most sense to go after with regards to equipment to move onward. Just getting more dex, crit, resists is not going to make the game more fun for me I suspect. I always loved CC amazon builds in D2 and hoping this might give me the same joy.

Has anyone tried to make a Chance to Cast build at all?

I've been going through the Google Doc that lists all the affixes you can get on equipment. I'm thinking if I could grab a set of equipment like the following list below (without sacrificing too much damage/survivability) would it be practical or are the percentages to proc just too low?

Shoulder with Chance to Chill (max 5.1%)
Helm with Chance to Fear (max 5.1%)
Belt with Chance to Freeze (max 5.1%)
Boots with Chance to Immobilize (max 5.1%)
Bracer with Chance to Knockback (max 5.1%)
Pants with Chance to Slow (max 5.1%)
Gloves with Chance to Stun (max 5.1%)
A Weapon with any of the above (max 2.6%)

This all might be a pipe dream as well given that most of this gear would be way out of my price range if it had other good stats.

    Looking for thoughts or experiences.

    Thanks!

At one point i had a decent amount of on-hit gear, including chance to freeze/fear/blind. However, once you start to upgrade your gear you run into a few problems. First, it's insanely hard to get a high roll on proc percentage. Most of the on-hit gear you find will be around 1-3%. Second, the on-hit stat takes up a slot on the item's stat budget, which makes it less likely that you will find a piece of gear with on-hit stat that also contains other attractive mods/high rolls. And lastly, the proc% is pretty random, and it never got up to a point where i can consistently rely on it procing. Sure is fun to turn diablo into a popsicle though.

I think that an dex, vit, chance to cast build would be amazing. I have always wanted to do this, but I haven't even tried to because I am just farming tg's.

I read somewhere that if you do this, you should use spike traps with jagged spikes because you have a chance to cast every time the spike trap does damage. I haven't tested this though.

^^ its caltrops isn't it and not spike traps?

I have a seperate but on topic question, does CC stack? Got a fear/hit bow and nat's helm so hoping they do!

Treating CC (esp as high levels due to likely item costs) as a bonus is the way to go, I probably would rely on it, as it were.
