Hi fellow SP'ers! I have been debating which build I want to go with (I'm a level 85 Barbarian). I have used frenzy for a long time. However, I'm not sure my weapon choice was the best.
Here's what I've found so far in my 85 levels....... Please tell me what you think the best combo is:
Baranar's Star
Fleshripper
Horizon's Tornado
Demon Limb
Flamebellow
The Grandfather
Here's the work I've done so far to try to hammer out the best DPS combo:
The Grandfather 700-3845 x 2.05 per sec = 1435-7882 DPS (4658 average)
Flamebellow 626-2447 x 2.05 per sec = 1283-5016 DPS (3149 average)
3903 DPS
Baranar's Star 1237-2140 x 2.5 per sec = 3092-5350 DPS (4221 average)
Fleshripper 417-1605 x 2.5 per sec = 1042-4012 DPS (2527 average)
3374 DPS
Fleshripper has several properties that (could?) make it higher DPS than it would seem (lower target defense, crushing blow, deadly strike, open wounds, etc.... I'm not sure too if those properties would "help out" the main hand weapon too.) Also, I know that Demon Club with the Baranar's Star would be overall higher DPS number, but see above.
Another thing, in the German weapon speed calc, I'm not sure if the "attacks per second" number is per weapon or total, so I just multiplied all of the in-game character screen damage figures for each weapon by half of the quoted attacks per second. I'm sure it's more complicated than that.
Finally, I don't use the ladder runeword patch and I don't have many high runes anyway. But, if you know of a cheap runeword (any 1-handed weapon type is fine, I'm flexible right now) that would be better than all of the above, do share.
I'm not sure which combo, but have demon limb on switch for the enchant.
Soft Kitteh, warm Kitteh, little ball of furrrrrrrrrrrr
Happy Kitteh, sleepy Kitteh, pur pur purrrrrrrrrrrr

Thanks for that - never thought of using it for buffing due to the repair costs. As I am now reading though, 9k per charge is not too bad. Would the +3 To Fire Skills on the flamebellow synergize with it and make it a level 26 enchant? Assuming the demon limb and flamebellow were on the same switch of course.
nope they wouldnŽt, charges or auras granted by items are not increased by +skill items
if i were you, iŽd try to stick with one weapon class. either swords or clubs, as you will only have to skill one mastery that way. that should help with increasing damage by letting you put more points into synergies.
iŽd use the maces for now, as they have inherit 50% increased damage to undead, get 1.1% ed for each point in str, have lower requirements, higher durability (flamebellow <-> baranars star) and at least one weapon of them two has nice bunch of ias. swords look cooler though
Baranar's + Horizon's - the speed on those will be much nicer than trying to swing those swords. If you happen to score a Stormlash, it'll be even better.
How's the rune stash lookin'? Any possibility for Oath/Lawbringer or Oath/Oath?
He said he doesn't have RWM in the OP. Crescent moon is a decent cheap runeword. Only other cheap runeword I can think of is passion, which doesn't really fit in a frenzy build.
Do you have any exceptional items that might make good upgraded weapons.
I think grandfather+flamebellow would be the best choice.
Depends on what you want it for really. At level 85 you should have nearly finished the game anyway (and can easily do it with grandfather+flamebellow ). If you want to do MF runs or travi runs you will need a complete gear overhaul and probably won't get very far without ladder runewords..
Flambellow has some ok elemental dmg and Grandfather is way the best of the possibilities I think.
With Baranar's Star + Demon Limb you'd be able to have some nice elemental damage, the only problem can be their short range.
Fleshripper is a very nice weapon if you know how to use it, but means no mastery when in hand. I'd put it on switch if used against big solo nonPI monsters.
I'm pretty sure that's the combination I'd go with too unless I had plenty of increased attack speed from other places, or perhaps Shaels in both the swords. I suppose using the Grandfather for a while would be cool, its such an iconic Diablo weapon but it isn't particularly useful once one starts getting some better uniques or runewords. The issue of range on the maces wouldn't bother me too much due to the ridiculous speed of movement/swings.
