    I suck bigtime!!!

I really suck at this game. Level 37 monk with like 230 dps. I know im doing something wrong but i get hardly any leka drops. Nightmare act 2 is getting way to tough and i really suck at farming as well even though ive watched videos i dont think my gear is good enough to farm. Trying to learn but i suck at learning as well lol...
    Ive only got 40k gold.
Would it be wise to just start over with a new character and try again from scratch. Im thinking witch doctor.

Post your skills and gear. You should not be stuck in Act 2 NM, regardless, and there's is little need to farm until you reach lvl 60.

There is always the Auction house.

And no need to start over. If necessary, back up and replay some areas to get some gold or hope for better drops. Beats starting from the very begining.

As animeCraze said, folks here are very helpful. Let us see your current set up and skill layout and they can certainly provide some useful tips. The Monk forum could also ber very helpful if you post your setup there and ask nicely for assistance.

I actually made it to level 60 with almost fully self found gear. i bought a few weapons from the Auction house for my monk. At level 60 I still had some level 26 and 40 rings.

The single best thing you can do the improve your DPS is a better weapon.

If want to use the auction house just set your buyout anywhere from 1k to 5k(or 10k at higher levels). Look for highest Dex and Vit gear within that price range and you should be good to go. Rings and Amulet you can get from the NPC vendor. I used to just keep resetting the game until the vender had something decent.
Later if you have the money at around 44+ you can search for level 60 ilvl62-63 weapons with reduced level requirements and roflstomp your way through hell. Other than that you just have to keep farming until you have gear or more gold.

    Re: I suck bigtime!!!

Considering you lvl, your dps is realy very low, you should have more than 1k dps (which is 5 times what you have).
    So :
    - get a better weapon, you can find than on GAH for less than 5k gold
    - get some dam jewelry (dam+socket or dext+socket) you find those to the ingame vendor in each town (properties of the jewelry sold by the vendors are random and rerolled in each new game, so check regulary).
    - socket all your empty sockets
    Hope this helps you.

Hows this for an improvement? To get 1000+ dps means ill have to drop my shield and get another fist weapon. Good idea? I played a bit with my new gear and felt much stronger

    Re: I suck bigtime!!!

My monk, who hasn't even cleared Normal, has better stats than yours, with fewer rares and playing only self-found, without repeating content.

I would suggest: Amethyst in helm if you're having survivability problems. Ruby in weapons seems to work better than emerald, because it's hard to get great crit gear early on. I also can't tell if the coloration is off or if it's something else, but your other sockets should probably be emeralds and amethysts, not anything else, as strength/intelligence don't help nearly as much as dexterity and vitality do at that level. Also, I can't tell the individual stats of your items, but one way to get damage up pretty quickly is to get some flat +damage on rings/amulets, and get weapons with fast attack speeds. You're probably doing this to some extent already, but that really helps. Lastly, I would just suggest evaluating your gear to make sure that all your gear is helping you.

I had a friend play D3 who was not really familiar with the concept, and he would routinely take gear with no useful stats to him because it was of a higher level and had more armor. I don't think you're doing that, but if you have gear that doesn't help you in any way, it's basically dead weight. Especially in NM, you can more or less coast by just relying on dex/vit/+damage/attack speed. And if you're using the AH, you should be absolutely obliterating content.
