Run-speed Barb for Act 1 farming

Hi guys! Decided to max out run-speed for some giggles last night, and to my surprise, it was super effective!

Granted you need some decent gear to do this, since you will go down quite a lot in resistances in favour of run-speed instead.

The build i ended up using (and i'm sure can be improved further) is this:

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...ViU!VZY!bZccab

    Frenzy - Vanguard
Wrath of the Berserker - Insanity

    Warcry - Impunity
    Revenge - Provocation
    Battle Rage - Marauder's Rage
    Sprint - Marathon

    Passives:

    Tough as Nails
    Ruthless
    Weapons Master

    _________________

The idea is to just rush and try to keep up Sprint with Marathon for a permanent 75% boost to run speed, without ever dropping it.

It is possible if you stop occationally to fill up some Fury on random mobs.
It's possible to do butcher run's in about 6-8 minutes with 5 stacks including warden.
Just stop to take down the champion packs with Battle Rage's +30% damage (and WotB if you need it), then plow on untill you hit the next pack of champions.
It's also MUCH quicker to locate dungeouns with this build.

In order to hit the run-speed cap at 25%, i use 12% run-speed boots, with Lacuni bracers, and Inna's glory pants. The rest of the gear is my standard inferno build which gives me around 1000 LoH, 34k dps, 650~ish resistances (low due to the run-speed gear) and 48k HP.

With the gear you get +25% run speed (cap), 15% from Frenzy while the effect last, +50% from sprint (which you can keep up for about 20-25 sec with full fury, another 5 if you cast warcry and then sprint again).

For me, this build is perfect for farming in Act 1, but since you are sacrificing some defensive stats it's not really viable in any other acts without super-gear to compensate.

Re: Run-speed Barb for Act 1 farming

I've gone with lacuni prowlers, boj anglers and pride of cassius my fast swinging loh dagger barb.

I love things that think they can run away from me

Also, my DH is set up for movement speed with unity, hammer jammers (130 dex and 2 sockets) and 12% boot, will try to likely to find a pair of inna pants and my nat's boots when I hit 60), wouldn't be without movement speed!!

Edit: both are in act 1 hell so far and at lvl55 only and to clarify that this isn't farming gear, I incorporated the +speed items into my day to day gear and in the csase of my DH, gold find too.

Drop Tough as Nails for Unforgiving and you'll never run out of rage for sprint.

Well, not quite. Sprint cost's 20 fury and lasts for 5 seconds, Unforgiving gives you 2,5 fury in 5 seconds, so it doesn't really help that much. Rather have that extra defence for the elite's.

It's not so much the rage generation, as you said it's not enough on it's own to keep sprint going, it's the fact that you no longer lose rage when you are not attacking something. Next time you play watch how much rage you lose if you are not attacking something for 10 seconds, it's quite significant. Also if you are doing the runs in 5-8 minutes I'm assuming your gear is at the level where you can steamroll anything in a1, so I'm confused as to why you think another ~1k armor is needed to be successful.

Try it for one run, if you hate it don't use it again.

Have a video of you doing some sweet 75% MV boost? I can imagine it makes the game alot more bareable to be constantly moving at high speed, even if 75% requires alot of sacrifices in skills or items.

Here we go! http://www.youtu.be/csVeo3m4Hzw - Sorry for the lousy quality!

Regarding the sacrifices it's not actually that bad. Sure, you have to switch two gear-slots (3 if you don't have +12% boots), in my case the bracer's and pants, although you can get those items with some nice mods too. Good boots with a lot of strenght and 12% MoveS can be found quite cheep.
All-in-all, i didn't drop any dps with this gear, only resists.

Skill-wise, you're really only changing one slot to sprint. If you wan't, you can skip the boost from Frenzy and use the +damage one instead.

Re: Run-speed Barb for Act 1 farming

I read this last night and thought I would give it a go and I got to say, this is alot of fun and rips though ACT 1 very quickly and easily. With the speed of the runs and how quickly you get to the next elite pack, I got to wonder if this will be more profitable for mf farming, then doing Act 3. I also went with the bracers and the pants for the speed and only lost about 600 dps from the change and about 60 all resist, both stats are easily covered in act 1.

    Great guide well done

    Thanks!

This sure beats act 3 farming in my case. I have beaten the game and cleared all acts in inferno, but my gear is still sub-par when it comes to farm act 3/4 effectivly. It takes me around 2 minutes just to kill one champion pack in act 3, those 2 minutes with the run-speed build clears an entire cave of five champion packs in Act 1.

So, for people with "decent" gear like me, I'd say it's more profitable to use these kind of builds to clear act 1 a few times over compared to kiting all week long in act 3.

And also, the speed makes this game much more enjoyable.

Re: Run-speed Barb for Act 1 farming

The speed of the sprint(run like a wind proc) and 12boots is enough for me...i dunno if the additional ones from other gear is justifiable or hardly noticeable.
So basically this is maxing out run speed from different current content sources.
But this is a great info.

    Thumbs up!
