It has an atom D525, not sure if that would qualify. I've heard the nvidia ION would work. I'm looking to build quiet fanless system and well this is it.
Any ideas?
I think it can RUN D3 but no promises on the performance.
Hmm... can't tell but is the graphics on this board better? http://www.mitxpc.com/proddetail.asp...61M350&cat=214
Nope, it's actually worse.
Oh. Well while I know in general it's a bad idea to use onboard graphics, which onboard graphics card is the best right now? For Nvidia or AMD. Which has better Linux support (or is that a dirty word around here)?
The best onboard graphics ATM are the AMD APUs, something like a A10-5700 or a A10-5800K can run Diablo 3 on low setting (in Windows). With Intel, I wouldn't even try it with anything below Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Ivy Bridge), and even that is a very poor gaming performer.
For Linux, I would say there is better support for NVidia Desktop graphics, for the rest I don't have much experience with it, but I wouldn't expect too much. But even if you manage to install the correct drivers, be aware that the performance under Cedega / Wine will be far inferior to anything running in the original Windows environment.
Well their proprietary drivers are better than AMD or Intel, and they are the easiest to setup imo, plus the performance is acceptable when comparing to what you get in Windows. AMD does offer some open drivers but I don't think that's what Jason was asking, he is probably using Ubuntu or any other n00b friendly distro and he wants to easily setup his video card so he could play D3. If that's what he wants, I'd say a desktop GeForce would be the easiest to configure.
Actually, I will be doing Linux From Scratch (I have built a system this way before) and will be compiling wine with whatever options needed to work. I don't like the normal package management things due to bloat, confusion, and dependency hell that can arise (such as our rhel servers at work, a nightmare to install custom things).
FTR, I am looking at this http://www.mitxpc.com/proddetail.asp...ION525&cat=113 computer.
In that case I have no idea how good the support is for the ION GPU under Linux, you'll need to ask in a Linux forum. If someone can run a DX9 game with that, then you should be able to run D3.
