    d2 the way it should be :)

    I'm working on a diablo 2 mod, which will be something close to unofficial 1.14 patch(or maybe more like 2.00
    Here is my todo list:
    1)more diversity in endgame items (I really don't like seeing every char using same items).
    -endgame set/unique/runeword items similiar in power.
    -new very rare unique items (like Azurewrath or Tyrael's Might. Would like to bring more from d1 like the Demonspike Coat)
    -high level items greatly boosting low level spells (to make them usefull at later stages also)
    -elite set with ring (now it will be worth to pick up unidentified set ring )
    -more uniques based on same item, not only high level ones.

    2)charms no longer taking whole equipment space (had an idea of making only unique charms usefull or even make magic ones not drop)

    3)improve mf system-every char build will get good drops.Not sure how to solve this, here are some ideas:
    -mf affix ONLY on unique charm (based on clvl)
    OR
    -mf affix on EVERY item

    4)Improve atmosphere-closer to d1.
    -darker areas, less rainbows(no more bright equipment and monsters), gothic feel
    -dominating colors will be black, grey, red, gold.

    5)No more boss runs!
    -best items will be dropped by random unique monsters.

    6)All atrributes will be important (different classes will focus on different attributes, for example sorc will get spell dmg boost from Energy). This one will require really good balancing and I'm not even sure if I will do it.

    7)Move all the auras that act 2 merc gives somewhere else, so that player won't be forced to play with them. You prefer playing without merc? That's fine it won't affect your char power. I'm not sure how to achieve it. Ideas?


    Others:
    teleport oskill-I'm not sure what to do with it. I thought about making unique charm with +1 to teleport, but won't it break the balance? Should really every class get acces to teleport? Enigma will lost this bonus for sure(it makes other armors useless for casters). But don't you think that necro with minions and teleport is too powerfull?

    sockets in charms?

    Share your ideas and comment mine Oh, if you have an idea for a new unique item or improving esisting one share it. But have in mind that I don't want to touch game balance, so no overpowered items compared to existing ones.

    Always interesting with new idead. But first of all you should definitely check out Brother Laz's Median XL. It is actually more of a new game (new skills, new quests, new items, goes to lvl 120, and a lot of other stuff), but it has a lot of the stuff you're talking about

    comments on your ideas:

    1. items: Median XL does it pretty well, I imagine you could get some inspiration from that.

    2. charms: I don't like this idea. As with all other item slots the inventory is a place where you can sacrifice something (inventory place) to gain something. This is what's making gearing chars so much fun. Removing magic charms would be a huge step back IMO.

    3. "every char will have good drops": again I very much disagree with this idea. Same issue as before - you can choose to sacrifice some killing speed for more magic find. Again one of the great challenges of gearing your char. What could be done was to try and create a couple of new MF items for the classes that are currently not among the top MFers.

    4. "improve atmosphere": this is a question of taste, but again I don't agree. The atmosphere feels really good to me - the only things that are really bright (except for a few items) is magic spells - and I feel they are supposed to be that way.

    5. No more boss runs: The most efficient place to hunt for the real top end items is already pretty much random uniques in the AT, CS, Pits, and other alvl 85 areas. I think the balance is pretty good between areas and bosses (meph for starter gear, area running for top gear, council/countress for runes, etc).

    6. Stat points: sounds really interesting.

    7. a2 merc aura balancing: a point I have thought about often my self, as I'd love to play more with the other mercs. I've always imagined giving all other kind of mercs auras too, but I'm sure there are other ways this could be done.

    2.But all the bonuses magic charms gives would go into unique charms. There would be like 8 small charms. You would still sacrifice some inventory space but not the whole one. Imo it's really bad design having a choice betwen more power and being able to pick up items. You always choose more power, but diablo is about pickping up items so it is really annoying the way it is now.

    That could be a solution. But ranged chars don't really sacrifice much power when they equip mf gear.

    4.That's something that hardcore diablo 1 fans will be happy about

    5.With boss runs I just mean act boss runs. I would like to greatly reduce their drop.Council/countress would stay the way they are. I was also thinking about introducing more alvl 85 areas.

    7.Yeah, all merc should be equal in power and you should choose the one you like. And if you don't like any you can play without them and it won't affect your char stats.

    Thanks for reply. I have actually played median xl and got bored in act2 normal All these not diablo monsters imo ruin atmosphere.

    Magic charms can be some of the best items in the game, and the excitement of the next one maybe being exactly the one you are looking for is something I enjoy a lot. I've also never experienced inventory space being an issue. I can easily get by with 2*4 squares or even just the cube. I guess that's personal preference.

    Was thinking about improving Giant Skull unique helm. I would like to make it something nice for necro. Any ideas? It could be build specific or just generic necro helm, not sure about that.

    New ones will come later, first remaking useless ones

    You could do that, but then you would be creating another "Class Specific" Item group, so you would have to do it for all the classes to be fair.
    Yeah, I do have that in mind. Sorcs would get circlets(or masks and circlets would be good for every class), pals crowns etc. This way chars will look way cooler.
    Btw, the way it is in lod now isn't fair, you know

    Imo Giant skull is one of the best uniques (all categories) for bowazons using faith... :P

    Ohh, right, haven't thought about bowazons

    KB in all bows would be imo imba.
