Hi


im playing a barb and its really hard for me right now,
im stuck at begin act 3 inferno.


i just bought a 900 LoH axe and thought this would help me a little, it does but not as much i hoped it would.
can you help me improving my gear so that i can go on with act 3.


i know that the set ring isn't the best, and that a little more IAS would be great.
i also read somewhere that LoH is not that effective with Frenzy, can you confirm that

The 2 main things your Barb lacks at the moment is: Resis ALL and Critical hit damage. Your resistenses are really low you should aim for buffed 1000all resist. The second thing is you have really nice critical hit chance but your critical hit damage is low i suggest getting a weapon with LoH, crtical hit damage and a socket for more critical hit damage if you can afford it. If I were you i would think about going dual wield for more damage or update your shield to include all res. But the easiest way to improve your gear is getting a new amulet with: ALL RES 50+, Str, Vit, Crit Dam.

fragglerock, very interesting stats. I'm not sure what you're trying to do in terms of your stats working with your skills. When I see that much Crit Chance, I think of the popular WW builds that are going on right now, but then you mentioned Frenzy, so perhaps determining what your goal is for taking down the mobs can help to bring your gearing into alignment with your playstyle.

The one thing I notice right off the bat, and what ilovesin touched on as well, is that your resistances are low. I was able to venture into Act 3 with much less DPS than you and survive decently while whittling elites down. I don't know if that's your resist with Warcry:Impunity or not (can't be arsed to do the math on your gear, lol), but if buffed, you really want to get that number closer to the 800-900 range and then you'll honestly be set for Acts 3 AND 4. And unless you can boost your DPS higher with a focus on more Crit Damage like ilovesin suggests, then I think you're going to need more HP. You either kill them faster or increase your survivability to outlast them.

EDIT: Life on Hit actually works great with Frenzy. You want more attack speed so that LOH is proccing more often and Frenzy innately gives you that. Because you're getting more attacks, the proc coefficient is lowered, so I think you get 75% of your LOH total. I've read that in some theorycrafting around these parts, but to be honest, I don't really notice a decrease per the ticks onscreen. It just works well and the more APS you have, the more benefit you get so Frenzy it up!

Quick math says it's pre-buff but still wayyyy too low. I'm sitting about 700-750 buffed and I can't make it past the first elite in act 3. I am having similar issues to you. But LoH is GREAT with frenzy. As Katniss said, I think it's 75% as effective, but you're hitting so dang fast you don't notice the dip. It worked fantastic for me in act 2 and I'm actually looking to add more.

The big thing I notice is your block % and your resists. My block is 34% (26% from my shield and 8% from helm of command). Once I upped my shield and got a helm of command (I spent 2 mil combined) I started cutting through act 2 like I used to in act 1.

So all in all, I say up your block % (from your spec you appear to be a tank) and up your resists and life. I'm looking to do the same, but I'm struggling justifying spending a few mil a piece right now just to add 5-10 res here or 10 vit there. Keep farming act 2 and the gear will come to do act 3!

First of all, I'd drop Battle Rage for Ignore Pain. Lower dps, but you need the survivability.

I disagree with some of ilovesin's advice. 800-900 buffed all res is enough, your shield is okay, getting a weapon with LoH, natural crit dmg and a socket would cost you 50mil+. Not really feasible. :P

Much of your gear is all right. Gloves are by far the weakest (they do give you pickup radius, though. Having one piece with pickup radius is very important, because you can get globes dropped underneath monsters). Try to get gloves with 25ish crit dmg, 7-8% crit chance and 50 all res. On top of that, look for either vit or str. Getting both will be too expensive. Also look for free affixes (like +fire/arcane/physical resistance). Such a pair shouldn't run you more than 2 mil, I think. The glove market is so saturated with crafted gloves.

Katniss is right that "You either kill them faster or increase your survivability to outlast them." You can also increase both, but that's very expensive. Of course, even for a dps build, there is a minimum defence requirement.

The 6k armour is with Tough as Nails, right? But without enchantress? - you're using the enchantress, right? if not, you should. 15% more armour.

I disagree with the poster above; you don't need extra block chance. Your shield is a stat stick (nice that you got life% and high crit), would've been even better if it also had some str.

Going to go over some of your pieces:

1. Your weapon isn't bad, very high LoH, but I'm actually not a big fan of it. The int is also quite useless. I prefer to get LoH from my amulet and rings. Weapons are a big source of crit dmg if you get a socket or high natural crit dmg. You could try to sell it for the same price you bought it at, I guess. But I understand if you don't want to do that. For reference, my weapon is a 820 dps axe, with 87% crit dmg and 199 vit at 2 mil gold.
2. In any case, you'll have to replace your amulet, I'm afraid. You lose too much dps with it. Normally I'd try to get one with 250-400 LoH, vit and/or str, and crit damage. But since you get so much LoH from your weapon, maybe try to get one with IAS+crit dmg or crit dmg+crit chance.
3. You forgot to show your belt. For a belt, try to get 200+ str, 60 all res and 6+ life%. Bonuses are vit, armor and free resistances.
4. Bracers: nice, but poison resistance is useless. fire/phys would've been better. 56 all res is a little low, 65ish would've been better.

Ahhh just realized it was a crit stick board. I was pretty dang tired last night when I was reading the post and missed that. Sorry about that. But the moral of the story appears that you need to up your resists. Also, IMO you need some dex if you aren't going to be blocking much. You need some more survivability whether it comes in the form of resists (this is a must IMO), block %, vitality, etc. It's all about what you can afford and what you are going for in your build. LoH can only take you so far. It is good, but you should not completely ignore resists for it.

If he wants to live longer though a 25%+ block sacred shield would probably be the easiest upgrade. Noticeable improvement in survivability. You shouldn't expect your barb to be a dps machine unless you shell out crazy money.

(would be great if there was a socket in it, but i dont get greedy

i think i wanna be a tank instead of a dps machine, (but i still like my new crit chance and dmg)
i watched a lot of tut's for barb tornado builds, but i dont really like that.
if there's a waller or they freeze/hold you your gonna die

I know i need much more health and up my resis a little bit more .
Which items should i switch, which are the worst?
Right now im looking for some new gloves, like Snerra mentioned its the weakest link in my build.

i have 3 mil gold (havent sold the life on hit axe yet), should i spend it all for one item like gloves?
When i have to spend couple of millions for each item, i have to farm for a year

What do you think about the rings?
I found both of them, guess the wedding band could be better.

Gloves: I would try to get a pair for under 2 mil. Try using this search: 47 all res, 7% crit chance, 23% crit dmg. Then scroll through them and try to find one with 60+ str or vit, and a useful resistance like fire or physical (you have a lot of arcane resistance, so don't get more of that). Might not find the right pair at first, but then try again later or the next day.

I tried searching the AH and found some gloves for 1,5 mil: 67 str, 41 poison res, 70 all res, 27% crit dmg, 7,5% crit chance. If the poison resist had been fire or physical, it would've been really sweet. So look for something to that effect.

Rings are all right. Grats on finding a BK! It could have rolled better, but it's still a fantastic ring.

As for where to farm. Hard to say, both acts are good. If you can do Act2 pretty fast, and don't die too much, I would probably go for that.

Act two with 51% mf (before NV obviously) is where I found anything worthwhile.


Congrats on all the finds!! . If you want to tank more than DPS, I say use the helm of command. I haven't looked back since I put mine on.
