Re: Twist, Boom, Bang build. Expensive, but fun.

Yeah so I guess I'll put my two cents in. I used Exploding Palm from Norm-Hell but dropped it in a4 hell in favour of serenity. Prior to that point, I had loved the spell and loved the AoE capabilities... and thats when I had just used the Flesh is Weak rune for the added 12% damage to the target. Afterwords, I kept trying to find a way to sneak EP back into my build but failed miserably... until just the other day. It was actually this post that got me to check out Essence Burn because before that had written it off as useless without even trying because of the missing 30% HP explode.

After seeing the video of the guy in A4 Inferno using it, and hearing good things on this thread I tried it out and worked it into my build:
    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...Vgi!ZYU!YZacac

I have to admit that I haven't progressed passed A1 Inferno.. but that was a rut I was stuck in before switching to this build. My gear is the only thing holding me back. At the moment I'm loving this skill, and while I hate to disagree with Such Violent Storms because I respect him for his posts I've read in other threads, I just have to on this topic. If I wasn't a newb to Inferno and actually had decent gear, I could definetely take my build up past A1 and definetely plan to in the future.

Tried it a bit and I like it so far. White mobs in A1 Inferno die pretty fast and it is surprising how the pops spread like domino, and surprisingly amusing XD
Maybe during champion hunting its better to have the onetime 30% of life-bang rather than the infectious 60% weapon dmg. I will have to test some more. Do we have any info on the actual numbers for inferno mobs? How much life and dmg do the champions have.

I've carefully looked over the skill and I think that it MIGHT actually cause the 30% health explosion and trigger the spawning of the 60% weap damage burn... I dunno but it seems to be that every explosion not only spreads the burnage, but causes atleast 1-2 more mobs to explode instantly... even if I haven't touched them yet. Again, I'm not to sure obviously... but like I said it seems as though the explosion itself still inflicts damage of somekind.

I remember using that rune to farm the first act4 boss from lvl 50-60, and from what l recall the damage was static, meaning it would be based on enemy life rather than my dps value.

Anyone who's yet to try the rune and wants to see how it fares should pop the first act 4 quest and let it rip through the adds. Paired with Backlash you beat the boss by using Essence Burn ONCE, then stand still and watch the fireworks. It's very satisfying.

Pretty classic build here, nothing out of the ordinary. Crit with cyclone and backlash have been used for ages. Replace the random Exploding Palm with Foresight, Faith in the Light, Mystic Ally, Concussion if you're good at micro, or even Cyclone Strike. All are pretty much better in anything other than places like Istaku or Hell difficulty where EP actually, you know, works efficiently. I do like the words you put in front of the skills, though. Creative!

The explosions still happens with essence burn.

I need to move my monk throught the rest of act 2, but I'm afraid my stats ain't decent enough. I fell that I focused too much on offense to maximize the ciclones (30%/189 crit here, 500 AR, 32k life, 1k loh, 5k armor, 1,64 APS). I'm seriously considering a nerf on my crits to improve survivability... I'm using jewelery almost without dex, vit or res for crits... I have 800+ Loh on weapon, so I can mitigate here an there. I need to make some tests...

OT: I lost 2 pounds looking for monk builds/advice. True story.

Hey everyone, I'm here to confirm that Backlash crits DO NOT trigger Cyclone procs. I just spent a good 10 minutes running around act 1 with Backlash on, getting Cyclone up to 3 stacks, and then standing there without attacking while watching Backlash do its thing. Although I got many crits off of backlash, I got 0 cyclones to proc off of it. If anyone has had a different outcome from this test, please let me know. I was somewhat disappointed with the result, although I can't deny that Backlash alone gives a pretty nice damage boost and is still worth it if you have high dodge. It just doesn't synergize with Cyclone as most people seem to believe.

Good to know I wasn't sure and I hadn't had the time to check it over since I've been pretty busy at work. I will change it on the OP. I do agree that Faith In The Light works fairly well over Exploding Palm, but it just doesn't make it fun for me. I guess a part of it is the fact that once you have your buffs up that spamming your backlash mantra just doesn't cut it for me, that and I tend to have Spirit to spare with my current spirit regen. My stats are also gettingupdated. I've managed to get through most of Act 3 now without too many deaths, but Auctions aren't selling well so my gear improvement has been somewhat stagnant as of late. I made it through to Diablo Inferno, but Essence Burn is just not viable on Diablo Phase 3 yet, with time it may, but for now I'm using Inner Sanctuary with Safe Haven and Fists of Thunder with Lightning Flash.

I'm about to do a gear run with FoT and Lightning Flash to see how that stacks up without the Teleport to target. Thanks for the feedback. Again I know that Essence Burn isn't always the best option and can be situational, but to me it's much funner.

This build is just a copy of the cookie cutter posted by healthygamer which was in turn taken from one of the other cookie cutter builds on the official forums. Backlash crits do not proc tornadoes, but kudos for trying to come up with an original name.
