    Check AH/RMAH
do a quick mf zk run. Then do an act 3 run with some friends.
Get sad that the only driving force to keep me playing is selling items and still enjoying the game with under geared friends and watching them die.
Rage about how much improvement the game needs. Look at my items and get depressed over awful itemization. Think about how cool rune skill ranks would have been. Look at blizz forums and laugh at all the rage threads and fanboys.
Promise I'll do another run with some friends and quietly sneak away off my computer because d3 just made me too sad to play again that night. Rinse and repeat a day or 2 after.

Mine: Spend more time shopping in the GAH than actually playing the game.

Activision Blizzard execs/trolls: We'll make an auction house game with a Diablo-related plot and theme. Let's see if our customers can tell the difference.

Me: I'm an eBay master! I will defeat the auction house boss! Oh wait, I'm still wasting my time playing this game. Well played, Activision Blizzard. Well played.

for whoever's complaning how d3 sucks, how different is this from D2?
in D2, all you do is also:
    1. Log in.
    2. Create game
    3. Kill pindle/meph
    4. exit game
    5. loop step 2 until tired
    6. log out

Wrong, sir. Magic finding was one aspect of the game in which I rarely participated once I got found/traded for everything I wanted. When that happened, I still did the following at the height of LOD after having my characters' gear all set exactly the way I wanted it, because it was all still fun in some form or fashion:

    • Solo Uber Diablo server hunting with IRC
    • Causing general PvM chaos and domination in an eight-player game throughout all acts (personally, I found this most enjoyable in the final pre-expansion patch when all monsters became harder, and somehow, people across the board started becoming better party members because they didn't want to die anymore)
    • Pandemonium Event party
    • Cow level party
    • Showing off my three level 96 Amazons, each of whom used a different one of the three Amazon weapon types
    • Reading and occasionally participating in ridiculous arguments between players in Baal runs
    • Chatting with people in an eight-player game
    • Killing dirty PKs in party games (who were generally nowhere near as prepared for a fight as duelers)
    • Power leveling party

Because the items that dropped in D2 were more fun. Even the crappy uniques and sets still gave me hope that I would eventually find something useful.

Also, D2 had dueling and item trading. Runewords, bigger games, and quest rewards.

If it were possible in D3, you could skip the entire game and not miss out on anything important. The only reward for completing quests is coins and crappy dialogue. At least in D2 you had a reason to save Anya and clear out the den of evil.

That is false. You have a reason to wait in town for someone to save Anya and clear out the den of evil.

Re: My typical night of Diablo goes like this

I like D3 but it is starting to grate on me a lil bit. It's becoming more mechanical by the week. In D2, yes people ran certain boss runs, but somehow it just feels better than boss runs in D3. It's almsot like I'm attuning for a boss run (get 5 stacks cause boss drops got so nerfed you have to) and then I can make my way to a boss. I don't mind searching for packs and 5 stack nv, but it's not linear like D2. The closest it comes to diablo/baal runs is butcher. Yes i know D3 isn't supposed to be all about boss runs...but just randomly searching for packs isn't exciting.

It could be the lack of friend games (my buds are homesick for wow atm, I'm getting there), it could be closeness of the camera (vast expanses>intimate screens), but D3 doesn't exactly feel right just yet. What I learned from wow raids in gaming is that BIG open areas don't work (firelands), small enclosed spaced don't work (ToC), but medium/large open THEMED/varied areas work great for games (Ulduar,Zul Aman, Kara). For me, that's why I enjoyed diablo and baal runs. Diablo was a large themed area and Baal was a medium themed area. nobody liked Act 2, it was annoying and huge. Act 1 had a nice variety and was medium/large. i cuold go on but there it is.

D3 endgame = PvP (doesn't exist yet), RMAH (getting real life money) and HC.

There's nothing to do in SC after a while. Even if you don't have the best gear, you realize all you're doing is grinding gear that allows you to grind more gear (hence the endgame mentioned above). And if you're not into trying to make money off the RMAH, then you might as well wait for PvP or play HC.

The 60 level cap has definitely hurt the longevity as people have said over and over.

I'd say the crap sets and longterm quests hurt it more than adding another 40 levels. In D2, my endgame was finding all the sets for my toons (single player offline). Been x years and still missing most of the set pieces. I never got to the uber/pandemonium stuff but I'm sure that was something fun to start working on. Heck, they could even add some ideas from that D2 mod...(can't remember the name, Brother laz made it i think). That had some fun stuff liek class quests and challenges.
