How many hours have you played the game so far? Maybe you are simply through with D3 after 200 hours or so.
I suggest to wait for the expansion. I hope Blizzard has heard the complaints and add what people are missing. For example, something like the making of decisions on character builds which are either permanent or difficult to undo. Otherwise people would have exactly 5 characters and then there's no more need for any new ones, just for a bigger stash. That would become boring much quicker than D2.
See who is online and maybe say Hi to some people I haven't played Blizzard games with for a while (from WoW/SC2/...)
In d2 you played to make your builds work
In d3 I played with the build that works
to play more so I can play a worse build compensated with gear => whats the point, really?
it's not like using a different spell suddenly increases the joy tenfold..
and gearing to make a build work, when there are only 2 useful gearsets, the all-res+mainstat+vit gear, either with or without crit stats is really not interesting enough to farm at these idiotic droprates..
just to be able to, one day, say: hey i replaced this spell with this one caus i have enough crit chance and it will now do the same healing as this other spell that doesnt need crit, awesome right?!
if it wasn't my only way to talk to sc2/wow players (that i dont have on skype) i would have uninstalled already..
fyi cleared inferno on barb then rerolled dh, cleared it again, became more bored than a blind deaf mute person in a shed
The issue I have is Act 1 is SOOO much easier and you can still get decent drops. Plus, you can quickly dispatch champion packs and build up NV easy. Plus I rarely die in Act 1 and I can facetank some of the packs too. Act 2 and 3 may have the higher % but takes way longer to kill.
The only real decision I make is whether to play my DH or wiz.
The thing with A1 is that if nothing useful drops you're left with a bunch of level 50 junk that vendors for like 400 gold or whatever. In A2 at least you can burn down all the 61+ crap and sell the mats. Sadly, this seems to be my main source of income right now.
What's sad to me is typically having only one zone that you can viably farm when you hit the Inferno wall. I can either run Hell Act 3/4 for the next several months to actually upgrade the majority of my equiped slots. This is not an exaggeration. If you don't want to get your gear from the AH, which to me is not rewarding at all, then really think about how long it will take to get the proper main/vit/resall rolled acceptably well for enough slots to progress.
Alternatively, I can farm half way to the Skeleton King and do such a small sub-set of the game that I start falling asleep due to the repetitiveness. This is clearly where my gear is at. About half way to SK is where deaths start occuring and I have to restart due to a bad affix combo or mob type with bad affix. So I get 10 or so quests worth of content to farm or I go back to wholesale slaughter of Hell mode with a lottery like infintesimal chance of an upgrade. Nice choices, eh?
But at least I get to use the spec I want...oh wait...
Well, at least it's because I'm gearing for the playstyle I like...oh wait...
To me, it is not that Inferno is hard, but it is just a crazy gear check. I would ideally need two 1k+ dps x bows with a high gem that gives % crit dmg. As of now, my bows are 919 dps and 868 dps. The only DH skill worth a damn was NT and they nerfed it. I tried so many other skills, but none are very good. The ones that DO good damage cost 45 hatred...
For my wiz I need like a 1300 dmg 1 handed and a few other things.
