Planning on assaulting Inferno later this week, build tips needed.

    http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...VXR!beV!cZccaZ

At the moment I've been theorycrafting this build on my barbarian, as a "one size fits all" build.

I'm planning on building my character as a tank with lots of LoH and enough defensive stats to farm inferno packs. I'd rather have a solid character instead of a glass cannon.

My general reasoning for my skills.

    Primary: Frenzy with Maniac rune.
Here I'm kinda in between. I've been told that the maniac buff actually transfers to the other skills so I think it would compliment my heavy reliance on Revenge. I'm also considering Sidearm for its pure dps & AoE potential.

Secondary: Wrath of the berserk with insanity rune

This would be for elite and rare packs and bosses.

    Button1: War Cry with impunity

This would be for the extra armor and resistances for survivability.

Invigorate rune might work too after I get enough resistances?

    Button 2: Revenge with provocation

This is what I'm thinking on building my barb around on, tanking hits and dishing out punishment while keeping himself up.

Button 3: Leap with iron impact

For mobility and the armor bonus, when I need it.

Button 4: Either Ignore Pain with Iron hide or Battle Rage with Marauder's Rage

For starting up on Inferno, I'm planning on using Ignore pain as a panic button but I'm confident that I could switch to marauder's rage after I gear up and can take more punishment.

Passives: Nerves of steel, superstition and tough as nails.
To get as much raw survivability as possible.

Regarding gear, I think stacking life%, armor, life on hit, resistances and after that focusing on dps would work

I'm kinda off on the follower section at the moment so any help on that section would be great.

Any criticism and/or tips, would be greatly appreciated .

Don't have much time now so I'll only comment about the follower.

Get an enchantress for the 15% armor and the 3% attack speed and gear her with intelligence and magic find. With a 1000+ dps 2-handers (those cost no more than 100k) she can easily reach 4k dps and give you 10+ MF.

For your build, if you find yourself surviving the champ packs easily, switch tough as nails for an offensive passive.

You can't go wrong with this build. I'm using the same one (currently on the Prime Evil quest in A4 inferno) and it worked pretty well for me.

This is what I'm using: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...VPk!beV!aaacZc

Couple of tips: 1. I'm using Battle Rage with Marauder's Rage so i can deal some damage (it depends if you're playing solo or with group that has some dps) ... 2. Put Leap on your right mouse button ... 3. You can have big problem with Ghom in his current state, but its really easy if you have some life on hit and are using Overpower with Crushing Advance (which restores all your health instantly). You can just stand and tank him forever ... 4. Gear: Look for all resist, vitality and strenght on every item like belt, shoulders etc. Life on hit on weapon and rings.

I just started inferno on my HC barb.
    For me frenzy/sidearm, wotb/insanity, EQ/something, warcry/impunity, charge/dreadnaught, revenge/provocation seems to work very well.
As soon as an elite or champion shows up i blow it up, something that feels much safer than trying to kite it with a EQ less build.

I'm just starting Inferno on my HC barb as well, with an identical build. What do you have on for passives?

I agree 100% with the EQ, I strongly prefer dropping WoTB and EQ on tough (aka most any in Inferno) packs, as it melts them pretty quickly. I'd like to swap charge for leap/iron impact, but just can't ditch that life on hit from FC.

I agree that EQ + WotB is insane, but I just can't bring myself to drop FC (dreadnought). I feel like I need the life from that AND revenge. Also it's nice to be able to charge out of molten/poison pools or away from walls.

Considering it is hardcore, the standard defensive passives. (armor from vit, 25% armor, supersition)

a slight update. I have beaten inferno A1 and I'm rolling with:

    STR: 631
    Dex: 225
    Int: 163
vita: 850 (33k life at the moment)
Armor 9480 (War cry used, also using enchantress.)
dps 8961.94 (Marauder runed battlecry used)
Resistances are around 900 with impunity runed war cry

battle rage with marauder's rage rune has been switched from iron hide. ( I actually never used it that much). Funny how you can use it directly after using war cry making it pretty much a passive.

This build is exactly what I looked for, solid and a cookie-cutter.

I've combined all my skills under the spoilers

    Spoiler

Re: Planning on assaulting Inferno later this week, build tips needed.

    Since I've done this recently...

Act1 was a near complete faceroll. Once I got to act2 I replaced Leap with Revenge, otherwise standard stuff.

I went for Battle Rage and Wrath/Quake though because champ packs just spam way too much stupid stuff. I'd rather burn them down in 5 seconds (literally, 5 seconds) and not have to deal with their nonsense than risk not seeing the turret right under me or hit a lag spike or whatever. For Frenzy I'd say Sidearm is better because 25% of the time it's double hitting whatever you're swinging at and also hitting other things, and this also works well with LoH.

I ended up going pure offensive on passives, taking Ruthless, Weapon Master, and Brawler. If I had replaced one of those with Tough as Nails or Superstition I'd likely have never died. Depending on your level of gear you might need more defensive passives or less but you shouldn't need all three for act2 unless your armor/resists/loh are just terrible without them. If you have 900 res all... I don't understand why you're saying you needed revenge and dreadnaught for act1. At 600 res and 8k armor it was hard but doable with a full DPS loadout, focused on pure defense you should basically never die with those stats.

Revenge is a pretty nice dps up when compared to leap, actually.
