Uhm can you at least give a reason why that was a good opinion? I don't have a mindset - I just wish to be able to specialize my champion as I level; that's one of the main things behind rpg replayability I thought? Having multiple champions each slightly different.

And when someone says "stupid broken immunity system" he should always explain why it is broken - for me it forced me to adapt builds instead of having a build that is just generic for each and every monster I notice & blizzard might add to the game. IE: I could go massive damage on a single element in d2 - but that would only work when I was with groups as immunities would prevent me from going further. If I wished to go alone I'd better take a build with less dmg but more versatile.

Now I just have my monk - my monk can do everything - my monk can do equally good diablo as the butcher, he can do both multiplayer with 4 and solo. There's nothing I change for each type. I'm all fine with removal of certain features; however then I expect things like the item system to become more versatile - it isn't really, I don't have much choice their either. I look for dmg/armour + dex + vit + something else.
Not much choice here imo; just progressing with the same stats & just larger numbers as mobs also increase in dmg numbers.

*sigh*, you Blizzard sympathizers can sometimes come up with the worst arguments ever. D2 did have a terrible end game, some hell-unique content was patched in later, but for several years, it was three identical play throughs with tougher enemies and that's it. D3 has four identical play throughs with tougher enemies and that's it. Umm, do you guys really think this is a significant improvement?

Saying D2 had a terrible end game is a horrible argument in defense of D3's terrible end game. It's been 12 years.

Re: Is there anything I can *CHOOSE*?

I don't really follow your question if you're not trolling, and I'll give you the credit and believe you're not.

The reason you're not finding as much replayability as d2 had is, basically, that it's not there. :: Shrug :: That's just kind of how it is. Same goes for why you feel you're just "a monk" and not some special sort of monk. The lack of skill trees has both plus sides and down sides - this "lack of choice" is one of the down sides.

That said I do believe you have /some/ choices in setting up your character in regards to what stats to hit. Your choices in builds are a bit meaningless since you can switch at will, but you do at least have more than one build you can play with for each class. And getting to inferno on each class and messing around with some of the achievements for laughs will get you a lot of hours for the $60 you paid. It's not constant replayability, but you're getting a good deal of stuff to do.

I'm sure more items will be added. And PvP (whenever that comes) will add more replayability too if you're into that. Someday thereafter an expansion will come out with who knows what designed to increase the games life a bit.

I don't buy the "inferno is an endgame" thing myself. It's just another difficulty, that's more or less mandatory to anyone who's not just playing the game once to see the story. I think an "end game" demands special events. PvP can make an endgame. Things like the ubers that are unique challenges rather than just another difficulty to run for items can make some sort of endgame as well (yes, I know that was super late in D2's life. I'm not arguing D2 had a better endgame or anything either, just that D3 doesn't have one at all yet imo).

Then again, I think looking for an "end game" in a single player game is a bit misguided. Single player games can be great with or without extra challenges to do after beating the game (not saying D3 is/isn't great). You'd find much more of that "end game" type of replayability and evolution in a real MMO though. D2's not a real MMO. It's not really a single player game either though. I think of it as an odd hybrid.

Re: Is there anything I can *CHOOSE*?

I'm surprised by some of the reactions here. So hostile?

And just to start of: I'm really enjoying myself while currently playing D3, but I have this feeling that I won't be playing D3 for 12 years. It doesn't IMO have that long time play ability I think.

I feel sort of the same as the thread starter. A monk is a monk, a wizard is wizard, etc. A better item is a better item. Bigger numbers are better. Inferno is just a harder hell.

Maybe I'm damaged from D2 but I miss planning specialized characters (yes I know you can still do this, but still not really in the same way).

I miss that some items found in act 1 normal could be still useful in act 5 hell.

I miss that some items could single handedly change your whole character because of some properties it had.

I'm gonna keep playing and see if I start to like it more and maybe find something that could make it playable for 12 years.

Re: Is there anything I can *CHOOSE*?

There's certainly no point complaining in the newcomer forum, where people are expected not to be hardcore about this game and spent 500 hours already. If anything, complain directly to Blizz and tell them to make more interesting items.

If you find this hostile, don't dare venture into the Diablo 3 General "Discussion" forum. You might lose an eye. I think it tops the Off Topic forum for offensiveness and hostility (though that kind of thing is welcome there).
