I managed to get him down with a similiar set-up as here. Spent about 150k gold for dex/allres (+vit) gear and used my regular bow that has just a little over 900 LoH. Sunk my HP from 42k to 19,7k and over halved my dps to something like 18-20k.

I have to tell you, tanking with a DH was seriously fun and a unique experience

This works. Can get most of the gear items at about 10k each, about 20-40k at most if you want to exceed the users resists. Be careful and make sure you have a bow not a xbow, it didn't work for me when I had the slower attack speed with a xbow.

I can confirm that viljarast's approach works. I stacked up to ~600 resists and had ~1k LoH and took down Ghom just now.

My whole setup cost me ~250K gold through the auction house and I used a hand crossbow with a socket and LoH that cost ~100K gold.

I;ve finally beaten Ghom, the Larder. Granted a close friend of my (my nest d3 bud, tanied with loare or LoH and I just sat in the corner like the little p*ssy* I am, pecking awau at his hp; It was not ever close. We had him stitched up. Gof bless the Barb tank with Loh!@= I am truly on cloud nine, ieinic thing is I haven't contined act3 except for alittle bit. I will say this about it - from what played I completely lawmowered over the mobs,, It was naaaahhhhhcce.

But I have something imminenlty more important to say. Just because I'm self absorbex and llke talking about yours truly, I got a steal on a nat's gaze.. heads up ladies adn they have taken a huge drop, This means I'mm be able to equipir my beast weap and have plants to add a perfect star to it soon. Still quite a way off, but i've accruued 599gold and am getting to the point where I can have 4 star emeralds left over to craft -=1=- flwless gem. Not a nad weap at all, esp. for younirgeoning DH who wanna kick ip up a notch. Wanna trade it or make it part of aa trade ttp get my hands on a flawless star design. Another thing I heard, is that if you huy an item already equipped with flwless emerald, you don't need the plams.. Do you knoe if this it true>

I killed him with 300 resists, 60k health, 1250 LOH...Was easy...tank n spank.

Cool this is, once I got past Ghom, the rest has been a breeze. Made is straight to the Seigebreaker and took him out no prob. I'm also proud to say I am most likely one of the few who has a perfecr star emerald equipped in my weap. Not a star, not a flawless star - a Perfect star. That's 90% crit hit dmg improvement with ~ 33 crit chance. So, it's fun watching 'tough' enemies take around three or 4 hits and their energy ticks down and bit, then when the crit hit dmg hits, BAM! they can have 75+% life left and are toast.

Gonna take it slow and enjoy the rest of the game.

EDIT: Why no good drops on Arreat Crater? Rakkis was amazing. Getting rares with all trip digit rolls, it was how the game should be, and I thought it would continue. Aareat has been a BIG disappointment. Barely any rares plently of ilvl blues, but all with sh*tty stats.
