Ok, I'm starting to feel a little stupid/crazy, so I need to ask - Do you fell need to keep lots of twinking gear?
Story of my life:
Spoiler
I'm curious to know...
1) How much of you store items?
2) Are you an AH user and store items anyway?
3) Do you use the items you store?
4) Do you have plans for future regarding your item keeping habits, with the improved inferno drop rates and stuff? Edit: I had to clarify this one a little bit.
My case:
1) More than necessary
2) I use GAH
3) Mostly, I don't. It's easier/faster to browse GAH than stash mules. So I farm a couple minute more with my DH an buy the stuff I need. It wasn't really a decision, it was a natural process.
4) I plan to sell the whole junk, get rid of the mules, just to have more char slots (and go 5hc/5sc, 1 sc for each class/gender, something that uses slots better). I'll save really awesome stuff (500k+ items self found/as a bargain on AH) and just call it a day, since it looks like the price of items under ilvl60 is dropping fast. But I need to post questions on forums just to become brave enough before doing so...

1) Too much. I have to spend a few hours culling the stash every week or so. I just vendored a bunch of items I (at one time) thought I might try to sell on the AH. But I decided that it isn't worth finding a rough value and filling an auction slot to maybe get a few thousand gold.
2) I used the AH a bit to gear my wizard for act 1 of inferno, but I'm mostly avoiding it now. Getting all the items I needed to advance in difficulty ruined the fun of playing the game and I'm only now (a couple of weeks later) finding upgrades (found pretty nice pauldrons and gloves today). I think I'll use the AH primarily to fill holes in gear when I'm trying the get an untested skill set to work. If a character really needs 1k life per hit, I don't necessarily want to mf for months to maybe get that item I need and then see if the build works.
I do see how storing twinking items can seem like a waste when the AH is there, but I like using self found items much more than traded/auctioned items.
3) No, for the most part. I generally default to keeping anything that looks interesting because I can't look through mules to see what I have when I find the item. I don't even have much time to think about the finds given that NV is ticking away.
4) I'm not sure what this means. I will continue to play the game, I guess?
Regarding values of ilvl <60 items: Yeah, I'm not sure I should even bother keeping them anymore. I can get a decent sub 60 item to fill any slot for under 10k gold, so why should I keep any? (Barring the occasional awesome roll, of course.)
I'm playing with every character right now specifically I think to avoid feeling like I have to keep something fairly useless so that my [insert character here] can use it down the line. Still, old habits die hard and I have to cull the herd every few days or so. It will help once all my characters get to 60 I think (right now everyone is at least 51, but I have a few 55's and one 60.)
As a grail hunter though, I will have to make some hard decisions at some point I think as there is no way that I will be able to have the stash to hold all the legendary and set items that I get.
I don't ever foresee myself using the AH (the RMAH to sell stuff yes, but I'm not going to buy any equipment I don't think,), but as far as twinking future characters, I suppose I could just farm each mode for a few hours with one of my 60's and that should provide me with anything I will need.
I'll clarify on the OP, but you answered it! I was asking about eventual changes on item keeping habits.
I'll just filter the stuff once more and sell 90% of stuff. I have a lot of vanilla blue junk (like 70 int 1 sock armor; 90 vit 1 sock armor...) that could be useful, but is too cheap to bother.
I was re-thinking about the subject. Maybe I'll keep some jewelery. They're a little expensive, compared to other stuff.
1) So far, only crafting supplies, gems, and the 3 legendaries I've found. Which is unusual for me considering that in D2, at one time, I had 12 mule accounts and I don't think I ever had more than 2 accounts of playing characters at any point. Of course, in D2, you could actually find sets/uniques with some regularity, and there was a reason to hoard elite items with sockets.
2) No AH at this point. I may start selling, but I really want to stay self-reliant for acquisition. I've thought about turning AH gold back over into stacks of crafting supplies if I get any decent smithing plans for Haedrig.
3) I do use the crafting supplies, but I have way more of them than I need. Soon I'm gonna toss out a bunch of the lower level stuff; do I really need 500 subtle essences and 300 fallen teeth? Probably not.
4) If I bust any of my characters through to A3 Hell and beyond, gaining access to potential ilvl 60+ drops, I'll have to reconsider. I still have 2 character classes yet to play, and if I find good high level gear for those classes it would be a bad idea to junk it.
