All b.net server down?

I just reinstalled after a loong time the game on new computer and everything, and when I went up the closed realms (Europe and USEast to be specific), it does not create for me any character, and even says "server is down".

Blizzard terminated all multiplayer-support, or what?

Meh, I reember when they enthusiasticly babled: "We have no intention 1.13 being the final path".

It's just down (temporarily).

Diablo 1 and Warcraft 2's servers are still functioning. They probably won't ever take down Diablo 2's servers unless they go bankrupt.
