Well, I've got 1.95 APS just from items. Thunderclap's LoH coefficients are too good to not use.
Monks used to have a decent movement skill. Early in the beta, Dashing Strike wasn't limited in range when you didn't have a target. You could click the gound and dash the full distance, like a Demon Hunter's Vault. It was incredibly useful as an escape skill, like a Barb's Sprint, or Leap, or a DH's Vault, or WD's Spirit Walk, or Wizard's Teleport. But for some strange reason it was "fixed" and that was taken from us.
Yeah, it was pretty amazing. Monks were running through the beta with the Quicksilver rune along with DHs and Vault.
My crit is 22%. Just enough to get cyclone proccing or to use Quickening effectively, but I lucked out on the AH and found some stupid guy list an amulet with 7% crit chance, attack speed, life, and 45 poison resist for 20k and snagged it right as it went live. It would easily sell for 20 times that now heheh. Crit damage is only about 215%.
I ran this build today. I just hit 60, but I had already bought some items. It worked fairly well. I ran through act 1 inferno without a problem and killed Magha in act 2 before getting off. I died a few times, but most were my fault (standing in Dececrator... damn special fx from skills and **** block it so I cant see it).
I got decent gear... I was actually thinking about something. Do you guys think this build would work with dual wield? I wanted to do HealthyGamers DW build, but prices on LOH weapons are ridiculous at the moment. I was thinking, what if you ran with dual LLPS weapons? That would generate quite a bit of health back, and with the increased IAS, you would generate enough spirit to keep popping the matras.
What do you guys think? I think I could use pretty much the same gear. I'd have to get some more crit damage gear though (im only at 150...) but another LLPS weapon with some extra crit damage will easily put me over 250...
I'm just wondering without a shield will this build be viable? I want to do a dual wield build, but LOH is too expensive and Monks have a unique stat that maybe lets us bypass that while other classes cannot. I may try it tomorrow... I'll pick up a relatively cheap weapon and see if I can do it or not. Maybe I can change resolve to the DW passive and use the dodge matra instead to give some more surviability.
Dual Wield with LifePerSpiritSpent works fine for act 2. Well arguably for all acts, but with my level of gear I need to lean back on my shield every now and then when I progress in act 3.
I'm currently using LpSS weapons (about 40 each), dual wielding and using a build around this core, but with variations.
Oh wow, two +40 life per spirit weapons combined with a 29 life per spirit helm... and +62 transcendence = 8550 life everytime you hit a mantra. Factor in +30% IAS using blazing fists rune on WoTHF and 15% from dual wield, and then spamming FoT spirit per crit generator, that could be amazing. Will have to try this out this week.
You should, it really works well. Managed to find weapons with increased critical damage (129+ 100%) and about 750 base damage, which is plenty with 23+ crit%. I still say I need to dump some defense for offense though; Ghom was a real dps-race I had to slot new skills for.
What about a dual wield with 900 LoH along with LpSS (110/spirit total with transcendence)? Would that be overkill? I'm going to try that today.
With my latest gear setup I'm currently at 1,013 LoH, and 174 LpSS (edit: thats with the 62 from trans). It works well. Now that I have those keys in place I just need to upgrade a bit more and I'll be good to go.
As I side note, I just got a set of armour with 11k extra health from globes and I had 5 already on my gloves... Has anybody else out there ever experimented a little with this? Both extra health globe stats were just extras compared to what I really wanted the items for, but holy ****... I have to say I've noticed a big difference. Thoughts?
