Summary: A German court has decided in a precedence case that religious motivated circumcisions of underaged children are not allowed. The right of being bodily unharmed has been weighed higher than freedom of religion in this case. Once you are grown up, you can cut your willy as you like, of course (or even earlier, as you can decide about your religion yourself freely from 14 years on), but parents cannot let their children being circumcised. The next higher instance might decide otherwise, however, it's still controversial among lawyers.
A circumcision brings hygienic advantages, but it has its risks (strong bleedings in the mentioned case) and hygiene isn't that much of a problem nowadays, even though the WHO recommends it. Of course, there's an outrage among Jewish and Muslimic organizations now.

Male Child Abuse is Male Child Abuse.
Doing it in the name of God does not help.
Make it legal at puberty, If you really want to look that way or think it's cool at 18 go for it.
Then tell me it does not hurt.
But yeah - it's going to be hard to enforce; without arresting religious leaders, because they will break the law.

That sounds far too lucid and sensible to be real.Originally Posted by article

It should be a puberty ritual not Infant mutilation I would not do to a Puppy.
let alone taste the blood.

Thief.
This is definitely being discussed as an anti-Semitic ruling, but that's just because of the overwhelming number of J00z (left) in Germany and Europe. Ahem.
I'm of very mixed opinions about it; I approve of the practice as I do tonsillectomy or having the kid's ears "tubed", neither of which is substantively different from a medical point of view. This issue is touted as being a protection for children, but female genital mutilation is either already illegal in Germany... or already unopposed in Germany.
*SNIIIIICKER*
ahem, im sorry.... *stifles laughter* what were you saying again, my pretty?![]()
I thought tubing ears was to prevent water to get in them so as not to screw up your hearing?my brother had it done as a kid, so... he had to wear these little blue things in the pool and shower.
That's only one of them - Google for "Rage Boy".
That, but far more - ears naturally generate discharge, and many children don't have an opening that allows the discharge to seep out. We tubed my son's ears when he was three, but it is dependent upon when the problem is identified; the primary indicator is hearing difficulty, which is hard to identify even in toddlers. Some poor kids have to have multiple operations, since the tubes are outgrown and fall out.
Aye. Just curious:
no mention of female circumcision then?
Which is also a violation.
That was banned some time ago. As in, it's illegal to cut or make any incisions on girl's genitals, regardless of whether tissue is removed or not.
It seems to me you just contradicted yourself on the "Tubing" practice. Tonsillectomy is only done when constant infections occur. Neither of these cases are comparable to the medical uselessness of circumcision.
