I have next to no gold and I'm still stuck in act 1 Inferno...I've been here forever and even after the patch I still can't get any further. I have 28k gold and I'm tired of doing Sarkoth runs.
I rerolled a monk the day after 1.03 hit, and I am progressing smoothly through act 3, farming act 2, no gear cost more than 500k gold per piece except my weapon which dropped for me on my previous character. My friend thinks my gear is insultingly bad to be tearing up inferno like I am, the monk class is OP

I only have like 236 all resists with OWE. I use FOT/Thunderclap, Serenity, Blinding Flash, SSS, Mantra of Evasion, Breath of Heaven. I have about 15k HP. I use a one hander and a shield and have about 11k DPS. I have under 2.0 Attacks per second. 6500 armor.
Your resists are too low. Try to boost them up if u can. If u don't have much gold then go back to A3 or A4, stack 5 valor buffs and then just kill everything in the act, especially elite packs. You should be able to collect a lot of rares that way... hopefully u might get some upgrades that way, or at least something semi-decent to try to AH. I find A3 to be the best because the act is quite big, so there are plenty of elite packs everywhere... and u don't need to wait for them to fall from the sky like all the demons in A4 (I actually just find A4 super annoying). Salvage any lvl 60 blues u find if u don't need them. The essences sell for a decent amount on the AH, so I'd recommend selling them for a quick burst of gold. Save up some gold and then try to find some bargain upgrades. I'd say do a search on the AH for items with all resist plus whatever single res u are stacking, and then dex. You will need to scan through the gear to find ones with vit as well since u can't input a 4th affix to your search.
For A1 inferno try to get 500+ all res, and then see how u fare in it. U can always use a bit more hp as well... ideally u want 30k or more, but u can probably get away with less in A1 depending on your resists. Just keep testing it out after you get some upgrades and re-evaluate.
I would also cut SSS from the build... pick up sweeping winds imo, or maybe earth ally if u need a distraction. Test them out and see which u favor.
Great tips man I've been wondering if I should be doing act 3. What pieces of gear are ideal for having vitality on them since I only have 15-18k hit points.
There's no real specific pieces that are ideal for vit. I just get it on every piece where possible. The best way I can help u would be if u posted a screenshot of all your gear, and then I could tell u which ones are the weakest and would need replacing the most. Or if it's easier, u can also just type up the stats for each piece.
