    2H DPS Barb advice needed

So I have been playing a 2H Barb in Acts 1 and 2 with great success even before the patch. It seems I have hit a brick wall though in Act 3. I cant really survive the first batch of mobs and I do not know where to focus my upgrades. The build I followed is here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo3Strat...ank_barb_now/I I found swapping out frenzy for cleave with the extre fury rune works much better for me since I can keep seismic going to clear mobs easier. Frenzy is just too slow with a 2H sword. Here is my current gear and stats: http://i.imgur.com/jY9Xb.jpgMy DPS is 33k with 2 offense passives. I swapped one out for superstition in the screen shot. Where should I focus upgrades? It seems like everything I find on the AH will either gain DPS and lose survivabilty, or vice versa.

    pagenot found for build

also why do people advocate 2h builds? you can get same DPS on a 1h and have a shield? is it cost?

Well 40k DPS with a 1-hander is not exactly the same as 40k DPS with a 2-hander. Most of your abilities are going to do more damage with a 2H weapon even if your character sheet DPS is the same with a 1H and a shield because the base weapon damage on the 2H is much higher. However...

Just in my experience, the 2H builds really took a blow with 1.03. The nerf to IAS really crippled 2H builds that were stacking haste, and the need to blow up packs with WotB, EQ, and Ignore Pain really isn't there anymore. Prior to 1.03, you could kill much harder packs than would normally be possible by using a big damage 2-hander, and then melting the packs with WotB + EQ while Ignore Pain made you virtually invincible for 5 seconds.

The tradeoff with the 2H build was that it was extremely vulnerable while the big abilities were on CD, and you could easily die to stupid things like a large pack of quill boars or archers.

Now even the tough packs can be killed with a 1H + shield build, and the need to blow everything up with EQ just isn't there anymore. It's also much safer in general which can save you from the higher repair costs.

I agree that 2-handed builds aren't quite as useful now, since tanking is actually possible and you'll probably die more without a shield. That being said if you still want to keep at it, your crit chance is really low. For survivability you should be cycling Leap + Iron Impact with Ignore Pain. I find Cleave and Rupture to be the best for clearing trash mobs. With enough crit chance and damage, one or two swings is usually enough to kill any mob because of the crit procs and the Rupture explosions stacking.

Also are those your buffed defense stats? I normally run Tough as Nails with Ruthless and Weapon Master, and it gives me around 9k armour with Enchantress buff and Warcry.

Yeah. It seems my armor is very low compared to where it should be. I upgrade my amulet which boosted me to 37k DPS.

    Xaero *

Since 2h weapons are cheap i figured id sell of my 1h to pump up my DH and go 2h with barb so, I have no good 1h atm and I just had a quick question...

Is a 2h build viable for Act1 Inferno or even Act2 Inferno ?

You said you had problems starting at act3 right ?

Sorry I didnt see your question before. 2H is very viable for Act 1 and 2. Act 3-4 it is viable but becomes VERY expensive. I am trying to gear for Act 3 and couldnt get a belt that adds 80 vit for 30million while keeping my others stats. Basically, running a 2H weapon forces you to overcome the lack of a shield with more stats elsewhere, and hopefully be able to kills things faster than they can kill you.

2H is indeed very viable for Act 1 and 2. I am trying to gear for Act 3 as well.

As for advice for you: new bracers i gues, current ones are not too impressive, maybe try to get some crit chance on em as well seeing your crit chance isnt that high. And a new amu, but you said you alrdy got one, so thats fine then i guess.
