Losing map progress in new games

How long do created games last? I ask because every time I need to create a new one, I lose all map progress and they're randomly generated maps as well so I need to re-find everything. Is there a way to keep a game running and/or save map progress?

Maps will change in two instances. If you change difficulties, example Normal to Nightmare or Hell. Or if you Multi Player (MP) with someone.

When you play on b.net you are essentially MPing with someone every time. Even if you choose to play in the game by yourself. So your maps will always change each time you create a new game. On b.net games will only last for a while without someone present in them. The servers do not wish to keep games running if no one is going to play them for a while.

If you are playing Single Player mode (not on b.net) your map will only change when you change difficulties or MP with someone.

    Hope this make sense.

As Ladvarian says, but if you play on multiplayer (any version of it), your map with all detail on it will remin for 2 minutes if you were in that particular game for at least 5 minutes.
