Title says it all. I miss being able to use SS, Hammer and Earthquake and still be able to kill things. It seems the majority of Inferno builds are forced into going super-defensive or crit-heavy and as a result only 4 or 5 passives are actually usable.
Has anyone made a successful Barb build in Inferno that kills effectively using a spender(s) besides WW/Sprint? I'm having trouble plotting one out since War Cry, Revenge Ignore Pain and Leap (or Charge, Stomp) are required skills along with Frenzy or Cleave. That leaves 1 slot to work with and I find it usually filled with Overpower or Sprint because mobility is so important.
Also, a bit random but would it be possible to substitute Loh with a very high life steal% even with the Inferno life steal penalty (which is BS)?
Seismic Slam is pretty great. It deals AoE damage, it has a long range and the knockback both interrupts mobs (spell casts, power attacks) and puts some distance between you and them. Oh, and with the -15 rage rune it's almost always available and, when your rage is full, rather spammable. I tried dropping it in favor of a defensive skill but the loss of crowd control and ranged damage was pretty noticable.
As for LoH, it is indeed much better than life steal for most people at this point. Since it's a flat amount of health per attack (regardless of how hard it hits), it scales very well with attack speed - the more often you hit the more life you get. Currently, I'm dual-wielding a high dps mace in my main hand and a lower DPS LoH dagger in the other, helps offset the lack of a shield a lot.
Once I get enough crit% I'm planning on using this build - sword n board mega damage almost-furyless fury spender (hammer)1!!1

Basic premise is warcry -> into the fray ->bash until full fury -> WoTB -> bash until full fury -> HoTA indefinitely until the enemy dies, using bash or warcry to refresh fury in case you're running low. The 5% bonus crit and 100% proc rate of HoTA helps here. Also I'd forgo DWing or 2Hers (even though a 2Her can give you -5fury cost of HoTA) for a shield with 10% crit rate and other goodies.
Overpower is basically the healing ability, as with a decent amount of LoH (preferably over 1500 but it works with 1000), standing in plague or desecrate or any other DoT which ticks quickly will heal you to full health relatively fast (as each reflection procs LoH at a 33% rate). Also the high crit aspect of the build means that it only be down one or two seconds before it's up again.
Bash+instigation is just a placeholder at the moment until I can test the build to see how effective fury generation is.
Theoretically, this build can get up to ~90% crit with perfect gear or 80% with sub-perfect crit gear (not unachievable - I'm factoring in the 5% bonus from HoTA, WoTB bonus, battlerage and the passives), letting you spam HoTA and keeping WoTB up. At the moment with my measly 30% crit rate, I'm able to sustain overpower almost indefinitely for the 15s that WoTB is up, so with 70%+ it should be very possible w/o WoTB. However, for elites you should be able to sustain WoTB for the duration of the fight, making survival somewhat trivial.
Of course, if you find yourself not needing the healing/30% flat mitigation of overpower, you could swap it out for the 10% crit rune, theoretically giving you 100% crit with all your abilities active. Can't wait to test this personally.
I'm using this build and it works great! Since SS has no cooldown, I can really throw apart mobs and with big bosses I go CotA + WotB in 1 go.... ever seen a horde of barbs charging at you...?
My weapon is 1handed 830 DPS with LoH 300 gem, works like a charm with Frenzy.
BTW, has anyone tried this combo? A topaz with Tough as Nails passive, it does 2700 damage per hit to all melee attackers + your own attack!
Seismic Slam. You can do a lot of damage with it if you are using a good 2h weapon.
The CotA use in this build is fun, but man I die a WHOLE lot more using this solo and am forced to team up with a friend running a Blizzard/Hydra Wiz to be effective. My 1 hander + shield option is just too weak (600-ish DPS socketed with a Star Amethyst), despite having 705 LoH I just can't keep my hp bulb full without the added healing from Revenge on some of the nastier champ/elite packs.
Hmmm, well first of all, this game is meant to be played together as a group (or follower). Second of all, a 6xx DPS weapon in inferno = too low damage. Third of all, the tactics used might be too aggressive, I tend to take my time progressing. To each our own play-style of course, just go with what makes you survive the best.
It's really tough to play any kind of 1H build without Revenge.
I think I finally found a build that lets me smash faces to my heart's content: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bZVQRk!bTV!YZcbZc
With 405 LoH, 33k health, 7.5k Armor w/ War Cry/Impunity+Enchantress and just under 18k damage using a 1100+DPS 2-hander I can beat 90% of the Champ/Elite packs I encounter no problem and the remaining 10% I just run from
The only things that stop me are Fire Chains on fast packs, specifically Scavengers. Despite having nearly 600 Fire res and 71% reduction from armor they always tear me up. I've also been looking for a good mighty belt with all res, strength and 4-5% LL to supplement my HP recovery but haven't had any luck.
This build lets me wade in, pop Overpower and spam Revenge to my hearts content. HotA works wonders against Bosses Elites (need more Crit% though) and the Juggernaut passive is seriously good against packs with Frozen, Vortex, Jailer, Nightmarish or Knockback since they all can proc the 15% life recovery.
Credit for this setup goes to Spankalot since his build posted in this thread sparked my interest in HotA.
