Actually you're allowed to retract your items after 12 hours, so unless he was offering the item here and somewhere else at the same time (which doesn't seem to be the case) I wouldn't think any rules have been broken

He can do what he wants once the 12 hours have passed if the offers aren't pleasing to him (and have no signs of improving by the looks of it).

Ah didn't notice the date of the last edit, thought he just sold it without telling anyone while people were bidding. Even though, surely it would be beneficial to post or edit the first post saying you've sold it so that people don't bother bidding or waiting on the OP. If I was going to bid on an item the day after it's been put up on here and see nothing in the opening post about it not being available any more I would assume I was able to bid for the item, it's not like it takes longer than 10 seconds to edit a posting saying "No longer available".
