Is anyone using equipment that gives %dmg to specific skills? I just bought a mojo which gives 10% extra dmg for poison darts. I have 43k DPS right now with another mojo that is pretty much identical except it doesn't have the 10% extra dmg (and the overall dmg is 10 points higher). However, when I put the new Mojo on, my DPS only increases by about 400 points or so (using splinters). 10% of 43k is 4.3k DPS, and I am definitely not seeing that increase. also, when I have the new mojo on and switch out of splinters/darts, my DPS doesn't change. Anyone have an answer to this?
Your DPS will not change when you equip %dmg to skills because it only affects a specific skill. You should however see an increase in the average dmg you deal with splinters (put the damage numbers on in the options and you can test that).
The 'damage' number in D3 is not like the one from D2.
In D2, it showed your damage with a specific skill, although this was somewhat misleading for example the damage displayed for firewall would tick multiple times per second.
In D3, the 'damage' is just your average DPS from gear, stats and any character-wide skill buffs, like magic weapon or the damage boost passives on the DH.
What would be nice is if you could hover over the damage stat and it would show you all the steps in the calculation up-front, and then below the 'total' line could have another line that showed the damage for specific skills if you had equipment that buffed them, like you do.
