Does anyone remember D2 classic? Pre-expansion HC diablo 2 was probably the most fun out of any PC game of that time. I really thought the expansion pack took the excitement out of making it to NM with my hardcore characters. It was a legitimate challenge to level a hardcore character in D2C into hell difficulty (probably because of b.net instability but still).
Anyways, I really think D3 has brought the same tension and excitement, and I haven't had as many issues with lag deaths.
Many of the comments here are very denigrating toward the game with majority of comments focused on difficulty and item drops.
Are there any individuals on this forum that think the game should be difficult? I don't ever expect to clear inferno any time soon but the enjoyment comes from trying, right?
I'm finding hardcore D3 as fun as D2C ever was and relish the continued experience of reaching a challenging goal.
I'm having a great time with D3 hardcore!
I've lost a lvl 54 Barb (lag + nasty champ pack) but I'm back in it with a lvl 60 barb again. It's challenging, fun, and exciting - especially with a group of friends on skype/vent. Success is memorable, but so are the deaths and close calls.
I just have to remember that this is a game and the journey is the fun part - not the destination.
At this point, D3 HC is far more challenging that D2:LoD ever was, and I'm thankful for that. Feels much more like classic where the best items are usually rares. Even with a fully decked out character, inferno can still kill you easily, so it's a good balance of skill+items to progress through content.
Just gotta avoid doing anything dangerous during the peak server loads, thats when the lag deaths happen the most. (10-12PM on East for me)
Feel free to add me to your friends list - would be happy to group anytime. Currently only in A1 NM but some camaraderie would be welcome
having a total and utter blast in hc. love the difficulty.
you get itI don't ever expect to clear inferno any time soon but the enjoyment comes from trying, right?
you just get it
I love this game. The auction house temptation has taken a bit away from me but I´ve stopped using it because I find that playing alone or with friends, without buying gear, is the way to go for me.
It can only get better from here I think!
The game itself is OK as solo content. But I play to group, and the tiny group sizes remove a lot of that fun. Playing as a group and planning all your skills to complement one another was part of the fun. When one player with a key skill died, or just couldn't play that night, you had to find a replacement with that skillset, instead of just hitting ESC and rebuilding your character instantly.
