I apparently fail at searching the forums, so I figured I might as well make a new thread.
Been a while since I've posted, so if this is frowned upon now let me know.
Basically, I'm trying to level a new Barb I made, but I'm finding playing with him tedious. I'm just trying to get all five classes to 60, but I really don't enjoy playing it as much as some of the others. Has there been any work done on the best places to level based upon your current level, or ways to expedite the process? Or, is this much simpler than D2, and should I just kill stuff in the furthest area into Hell I can get to?
Thanks for any help on this.
As you have to be L50 in order to enter hell mode, I would simply go questing in hell and see how well it goes.
If you equipment is still a bit bad (like for me), do act 3 nightmare Siegebreaker runs (starting at the Bridge of Korsikk WP) or Azmodan and improve your gold account and gear with the finds. I did that until L53, then I finished act 1 hell.

Alright, that's what I figured.
I'm able to quest fine in Hell due to having a couple characters already able to farm Inferno a bit. Trickle down equipanomics so to speak...
There are some leveling technics to get from low to high somewhat fast but I have not used them yet. After walking thru 4 acts for 3 difficutlies with 2 character I might try one of them. Something to do with Zoltan Kulle runs or something.
There were some posts about it in the general discusion.
I did solo Hell Kulle runs for the last few levels. Each enter-kill-reward-leave cycle took less than 3 minutes. The 2500 gold reward was a nice touch.
From patch notes, it seems they nerfed repeated quest rewards, so you might have to try something else.
I did "Road to Alcarnus - Maghda" runs to level from 52 to 60.
It may not be the fastest way but it provided variety (several champions' packs each run and sometimes an "extra" tresor goblin) and I took good time doing it.
At level 50 go to auction house. Set conditions for 1) two-handed weapon, 2) minimum level 60 (!) 3) reduced level requirements 10.
One shot all white mobs in hell.
Thank me later.
I got item level 63 weapon with 600+ dps at level 51. Set maximum physics quality in options to enjoy the view...
Actually, if you just follow the "main path" until Diablo, don't be 100% sure you will hit lvl 60 eventually. My barbarian killed diablo at lvl 59. My favored place to level was on act 4, on the gardens (where I went to reach lvl 60). Stuff just run at you an attack. After that place the mobs have more life, making the whole thing a lot more boring. Act 3 can spawn some extremely annoying champion packs (Nightmarish + ranged attacks).
If you find a place you can handle (mentally) on act 2 hell, you can do it. I reached lvl 57 with my DH to equip a bow on act 2, on the Realm of shadow (place right before entering the Soulstone Chamber, where you get the ZK body). Lots of shadows running into you, a nice amount of gold, exception to a few molten ghosts of doom that show up once in a while. After that I, hit lvl 60 at the second heart of sin, iirc.
I, personally, don't like to solo kill champion packs with barbarian (unless I have something with big DPS), since they had a ton of life and I focused on survivability.
Depends if you want to quest or grind. I can grind 50-60 in 3 hours or so simply by killing mobs over and over. Need the best + exp gear though.
I prefer to kill teh spiders in Arreat Crater before hitting 60 with AoE skills.
