Thought this might be interesting to some people in this thread, just a little vid explaining who I am and what I'm trying to do with the healthy gamer.
Nice introduction. Being a "healthy gamer" myself I feel it's nice to see there are like minded chaps out there trying to balance gaming and not only maintaining a healthy body, but also gaining. I know a lot of people with the same mindset so here's a little something back to you, as a "thank you" for sharing: you are definitely not alone
It's actually neat how playing games and working out can go hand in hand, because gaming gives your muscles great recovery if you time it right and manage that self discipline.
Intermittent fasting? I used to do that for a bit. Stop eating around 8pm, then have first meal at 12 noon. 16 hr fast, no calories in between. It sounds really insane and hard, but its actually very doable, and it feels great!
Great video, thanks for sharingOriginally Posted by Thehealthygamer
Nice to see someone going against the norm.
I only do fasted long runs now >2 hrs to teach my body to metabolize fat over glycogen in a depleted state. Those runs feel better then when I eat a solid breakfast. I started trail running (trying to run an Ultra-marathon soonish) a while ago, and it didn't really go with IF and when I need to eat. But it was great and easy actually!
Thanks brotherFeels great to just live how you want to live.
WOW that's real mental toughness there to run an ultra marathon. Closest I've come to something like that are ruck marches in the Army, just did a 12 miler with 75lbs of total kit in 2 hours 56 minutes for our expert infantryman's badge, but that's not even like half the time you'd go for a ultra marathon. What distance are you going to start with? Ever see the David Groggins guy's videos?
Well, hopefully I'll run a 50k or 50 mile next year, that's at least 6 hours for a 50k (really depends on terrain), should be ready. Yea, Ultras are mostly about the mental aspect. Being out in the woods running/hiking, usually alone, for that long...
