Post 1.0.3 Rune Switch From Force to Prismatic Armor?

With the nerf to monster damage in the patch, at which point have people successfully switched from Force Armor to Prismatic Armor for Inferno (mainly interested in acts 3 and 4)? Of course, this is in terms of your armor, resists, and damage mitigation. Currently I have 37k hp, 5k armor (with FA), and ~400 resists (plus 1.5k life regen). I just want to know when it'll be suitable to dump some of that +Vit stuff and get +Armor/resists instead, to make life regen more effective.

    Thanks!

I'm at 25k hp, 5k armor, 500 res all, and I just went to a4 and half the stuff hitting me didn't even trigger force armor. I tried prismatic and was fine for most stuff, but elite oppressor packs charge->one shot me with prismatic.

My wiz has 36k hp, 5.6k armor (on FA), 520 res all (800+ on prismatic), and I am doing pretty well in act 3. I'm guessing it is time for me to drop vit here and there to get extra damage in, the nerf hit me for 15k dps >.<. I haven't tried act 4 again, since there's no point farming act 4.

Maybe this is an oportunity to try some other armor spell. Was looking at storm armor - scramble for kiting.

Prismatic is most definitely the rune of choice for stacked defensive Wizards. Act 4 Inferno Oppressors hit for 5k which was definitely not enough to trigger Force Armor. Corrupted Angels' charge move couldn't break 10k. Damage dealt by Inferno monsters was seriously nerfed in this patch.

Was the armor and res all before EA? I had 100 res all less than you but 5k with EA and those fire bombs they throw would trigger my FA...

    What's your armor and res?

That's buffed with force (not prismatic), fire is my highest resist though at 600. Most things that annoy me are fire.

Re: Post 1.0.3 Rune Switch From Force to Prismatic Armor?

I have only 22k life, but about 9k armor and all resistances over 1000 with Prismatic Armor active, with a 17% Bone Shield on top of that. Even before the patch I was having problems with Ilusionist seldom triggering due to overstacked defensive attributes. Most of my deaths in act 2 were induced by fire/poison/arcane sentries/hordes - i.e., fast ticking damage, specially when coupled with vortex/nightmare. What I did then was to get 1.2k life regen, to try and negate part of the issue. It did help.

I guess not triggering Ilusionist means not triggering FA as well. I do feel a huge bump in incoming damage whenever Prismatic wears of, or when I forget to cast it after a death.

OTOH, I've never face Opressor charges, so what do I know?

Re: Post 1.0.3 Rune Switch From Force to Prismatic Armor?

I have 18k HP, 640 all res, 900+ physical, 5.5k armor after prismatic and act 2 is a breeze unless I get sloppy and careless. Half the attacks don't even trigger Illusionist so the dmg is pretty low.

Act 3 can survive 3-4 hits, with 800 life regen it's really high survival. I think bumping to 700 all res, 1000 physical,6k armor should do it. Force armor should be thesame, but prismatic is better because smaller hits from whites are barely noticeable. Everything higher your doing too much/spending a lot that could be best used to increase crit instead.

I'm also running at 30k cc/150 crit dm, 20 AP on crit and the build is very smooth.

Either way I think it's better to invest on life regen (cheaper in the long run) rather than maxing out res/armor.
