Re: Selffound players only - show us your best weapon(s)

I'm not in the game right now to look at specifics, but my Demon Hunter is my highest character, level 60 in Act 4 Hell, and she is using a bow around 391 dps. That is the best I've found. My level 59 monk continues to be pathetic with a best weapon of around 340 dps. I have not had great luck with weapons.

My Wizard has busted her way into Inferno. I wasn't sure if she'd be able to do much more there than timidly farm zombies for tomes, but it turns out she can kill stuff there. I've gone as far as killing SK, and I think I'll just farm that section of act 1 for a time.

She's managed to snag some upgrades.

    Dagger:

If only that was +int. But she's happy.

    Orbit stones:

Those are from Haedrig. One of his base level 9 recipes. Only costs 9 exquisite essences + gold to make 'em.

And the best part - she actually looks like a Wizard with that stuff.

Sometimes a little whining brings good results (or it could be the patch, hehe). I am now sporting a 540.1 2 handed crossbow, which was enough to get me past Diablo and into inferno, where I am now getting soundly trounced. Fun times.

My DH had some luck too.

In the first part of A4 Hell she found a 530 damage 100+ Dex runic arcus which was a sweet little bow. I like being able to shoot fast. Coulda beat Hell and began Inferno with it. But then later on, from a Morlu Incinerator boss, Blam.

    Spoiler

Diablo fell to it, yes. Haven't taken the DH to Inferno yet; just the customary victory lap through pony level. I'll Infernalize her later today.

Wow, glad to have found this thread! I'm totally self found also and it has been sloooooow going for me. I didn't know if it was really possible to be a self found player and make it into Inferno, and was just about to make a post asking, but that's been answered here and gives me hope!

I've got a few characters, but the following two are the ones I'm concentrating on:

I've got a Level 56 Demon Hunter currently stuck in Act I Hell. She's got a blue Higoyumi bow with +91 Dex that puts out 267.4 DPS.

I've got a Level 57 Monk just about to beat Belial in Act II Hell. He's a dual-wielding Monk and uses a blue socketed Kukri dagger that does 230.2 DPS in one hand and blue socketed Grappler fish in the other that does 214.9 DPS.

As you can see, I have nothing to brag about other than my determination to make it to Inferno with only self found gear, LOL.

@Helx: When my DH was still in Hell I used Haedrig to roll some of his rare Higoyumis... lvl 7 recipe... I got one that had, IIRC, 330-ish DPS and some +dex on it. Not bad. Takes Hell quality crafting supplies, though.

Selffound Inferno play is totally doable. It probably would have been a lot harder to break through pre-1.03. You just have to be willing to farm, and play some builds that may not be incredibly original, at least until you are able to find pieces that offer a bit more than +stats and resists.

Here's another helpful beatstick I found recently.
    Spoiler

My Wizard is, uh, testing it out right now. It technically belongs to my Barb, but she's not allowed to use it until she reaches Inferno herself. Until then, she has some stuff that ought to see her through the rest of Hell. She's in A3 and currently lvl 59. I could put that mace on the character @ 60, but ilvl 63 does not drop in Hell... just one of my various little house rules.

I also found a rare 2H mace that just pops the 1K DPS threshhold, but I don't really see using it on anyone... it's just so unwieldly and slow... I put it on my Wizard's Enchantress follower. She looks strange carrying a gigantic hammer, but she can... and it works.

Thanks, Painman. Think I'll try ol' Haedrig out too. Actually after my post I found a vendor selling a Grappler fist with a little better DPS than my other weapons...so I bought two of them! Right after that a blue sling pistol dropped with ~330 DPS too, so I stuck that one in my stash for my DH. Adjusted some skills on my Monk for the better and I'm 3/4 of the way through Act III now!

That's a great looking mace, and that +11% IAS makes it really cool!

Re: Selffound players only - show us your best weapon(s)

I have made considerable progress, too. I have stripped my WD, putting everything in the stash and let the wizard pick the best possible gear. It turned out to be a good idea, his survivability and killing speed raised a lot. With some difficulties, the wizard was able to whack his way through act 2. Belial seemed impossible to beat at first, but with a little experimentation with skills setup he turned out quite easy even with only 14k DPS. Was looking forward to farming act 3 (great odds of finding ilvl 63 items) - however, there I got beaten badly by the first fallen bosspack I encountered. In fact, even normal (white) monsters are hitting a lot harder and have a lot more hp than I expected.
In the end I ran act 1 and 2 for a few hours, writing everything down (bosspacks and time) and after doing some math I came to a conclusion that act 1 is still the best farming spot for me. The wizard is able to run act 2 quite efficiently, but act 1 is so much easier that the total number of bosspacks killed per time is more than twice as high (odds of dropping ilvl 63 item are cca 1/2 in act 1 compared to act 2). I am usually setting the "kill the warden" quest, then clearing any areas with higher bosspack density, continuing to the warden and killing the butcher in the end. This run takes me roughly an hour and a half and besides the two bosses I kill around 30 bosspacks and 3-6 treasure goblins along the way. That equals to several inventories full of items (cca 2:1 blue/yellow ratio, with 145% MF incl. nephalem valor) and cca 200.000 gold.

I am sorry that I went a little off-topic, but hopefully someone finds the information useful. Now to show off the best weapons I found so far:

    The wizard:

    The witch doctor:

And a bow that forced me to start a demon hunter and level her up to lvl 60:

Re: Selffound players only - show us your best weapon(s)

These are some items I've found during inferno act 1 farming. The crossbow so far is the single best weapon I've found, and is what enabled me to farm act 1 at a comfortable pace.

I know 2 pics are taken from that AH window. Was too lazy to create a game. >_>

I only play selffound on my Wizard though, the other characters are ok to buy stuff from that AH with. However I don't think I've bought more than 5 items, 2 for use, 3 to try and re-sell at higher price.

On my Wizard, I'm also ok with accepting items from my friends, so long as it is items they found themselves, and not something bought from the AH.

Re: Selffound players only - show us your best weapon(s)

A new boomstick for my DH:
    Spoiler

Nice damage, but I'm not crazy about shooting so slowly. The crit damage bonus doesn't help much at this point; I'm still trying to get the basics covered as far as gear goes and right now that means stats and all res. DH's crit % is rather low. Still, it made the rest of Act 1 easier going, but I couldn't quite put The Butcher down yet with this character.

I'll bring my Wiz up to the same point. She might be able to bust through. All she needs to do vs. Butcher is keep up the Blizz/Hydra DOT and not get skewered by him or fried by the floor. We'll see if it's as easy as that sounds. I don't think she kills large prey quite as quickly as the DH, but she can certainly tank a hell of a lot more damage.
