Gearing up my barb on the AH and should i go with the hoc/ss/soe/jl ring and fill the rest in with good rares with vit/res/stre? Or should i just grab a SS shield and get vit/res all/stre and LoH on my weapon/ammy? I keep hearing that ppl say with all that block gear your missing out on a ton of res/vit and damage. From experienced barbs farming inferno whats best.
The blocking stuff is better as long as your other gear has good resists. 50% blocking isn't going to do much good if you are taking huge hits.
Yes edistotiger is right. Even if your shield block amount and percentage is great, things like molten, fire chains, HUGE physical hits are still going to kill you. Dont forget that these legendaries are freaking expensive on the AH also. I remember 1 or 2 days ago there was a thread in this forum where the poster described his opinion on "why yellows with str/vit/res is much better than these legendaries". His main reason is "you only need a quarter of the money to fully gear u char with good yellows when comparing the the cost of these legendaries" - or smthing like that.
EDIT: here is the post

I started with rares. Right after I hit 60 and started inferno, I started looking for rare gear with 30+ @Resist, 60+ Str+, 60+ Vit. Most of these pieces cost me ~100k each, but allowed me to farm Act1 and start Act2. Then I started upgrading to gear(mostly rares) with 55+@ Resist, 75+ Str, 70+ Vit. Around this time I started adding LOH, I got an ammy with 400 LOH and Str and Vit, plus a blue sword with 860 dps and put a Star Amethyst for 300 Loh. Now im upgrading to the Legendaries, I got my Helm of Command(Str, Dex, Vit, Socket) for 880k, a Bul-Kathos ring for 300k, and another unique ring for ~200k. The nice thing about this path is I was able to start farming Act 1 quickly, and selling my first set of gear for okay gold after getting the next piece. Now i'm ready for Act 2.
Hmmm ya you def can get 100str/100 vit 55+ res items for a decent price now 2 mill a pop
