    Calculating Rend dmg/lifesteal

    Hi there,

Right now, as many others, I just have finished Act I Inferno. I'm using cookie cutter build (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...Vik!ZbV!aZZcac), but Revenge seems unable to heal me enough to tank more than 1 elite (sometimes, but very rarely it's even not enough for 1). So as a fury dump I thought about Rend w/Bloodlust - it's quick, though very close range, and gives 9% lifesteal. I got about 22k dps (2h crit dmg build), so it should give me 22k*2,1*0,09~4,2k hp per mob hit over 3s (over 1k/s). But in the reality (virtual though ) it feels like much less, so my question is - where I have gone wrong? Is it viable at all?

    My stats right now: Clipboard04.jpg

    Cheers

That's because in Inferno life leech only works at 20% (i think) effectiveness.

Well, that would explain alot and also render all %lifesteal builds useless...

I only tried out the life leech on Rend on one occasion. I found out I could stand there all day rending away without really noticing the effect on my health bar, or I could just hit Revenge once and instantly refill it while simultaneously obliterating the monsters around me. At no Fury cost.

Well your DPS is really high in comparison to your defenses. If you are having trouble surviving, try picking up a decent shield and putting more emphasis on resists and vit.

It is important to note that Life Steal is indeed nerfed by 80% in Inferno but not Life on Hit.

Life on Hit is affected differently by different skills. See this useful doc on Life on Hit:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...WeENoU0E#gid=0

You see that Rend's loh is about 33%. So your 900 loh only recovers about 300 instead.

    Re: Calculating Rend dmg/lifesteal

Well, with my build life gain from LoH when using rend is also unnoticeable. If my calculations are correct, combined it gives me about 600hp per mob @ first sec, then further ticks for bloodlust rune (~300 per tick). Not only Revenge outdmgs Rend in close situations, but also is free and gives more hp. Maybe if someone would pack % Life Steal on both weapons/belt/Bloodlust passive AND bloodlust Rend it would be handy but it seems like way too much cost for gain. And still, with so much Life Steal, Revenge would be better choice.

Im curious why noone asked/noone answered the question about Fury skills in recent AMAA... (http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/blog/5235...8_06_2012#blog) Me personally not a Reddit user

I would disagree. Most problems I have Act I come from bad positioning/taking more than 1 elite pack at once/coop games with not enough support. Act II is a different history though, I get 2-shot just outside Caldeum. I also have decent shield in inv just in case, but loss in dmg and LoH is quite noticeable then.

I just like fooling around with skills and looking for more options

That's what i was getting at. You can't DPS if you're dead, and LoH can only heal back so much damage. For the purposes of survival, it's easier to mitigate damage than recover it via LoH.

    Re: Calculating Rend dmg/lifesteal

LoH really takes building around it to become noticable. When dual wielding i have about 1500 LoH now and 2.7 attacks per second, add to that the IAS speed from Frenzy and the heal it gives me can keep my life up when standing in Plagued and even Descecration.
Ofcourse, if getting one or two shotted, it hardly matters.

Yup, but in order to get better defensive equip, I need couple of mils farmed and/or new patch and Act II nerf. Right now I'm sitting in Act I and just looking for optimal skill-build for easy, maybe kinda mindless runs through Act I. Also, I just like %Life Steal, hence topic.
