Re: Need Inferno Act 2 Help

You are either using a wrong strategy or doing content above your gear level. Just do act 1 inferno. You can still find the best item possible in the game there and you won't die nearly as much as act 3. When you gear up better move on to act 2 and such. If you try to zerg your way through content (like having others pull you through belial) you are in over your head. The act bosses are supposed to be gear checks, if you can't solo them then you are not likely ready for the next act.

Re: Need Inferno Act 2 Help

I'll use this thread for a similar problem.
My wizard is currently able to roll through act 1 without any problems killing quickly and with almost no kiting (arcane torrent, arcane hydra seems to be most effective here for me) including butcher in under 2 minutes. Also no dying here (maybe except when my dog jumps on my laps when I'm in the middle of fire chains, vortex, etc pack ;-) ).

But in act 2 I'm totally stuck. My most defensive-kiting build:
    - hydra - venom hydra, blizzard - snowbound, ray of frost,
    - energy armor - prismatic armor, teleport - fracture (tried diamond skin - crystal shell instead too), magic weapon - force weapon.

The problem is that a lot of mobs in act 2 are fast (currently I'm in desolate sands) and how can I kite if every time I stop for 0.5 s to cast blizzard I get hit or I get hit simply running away. It's not a problem of one shot - death (hence I'm not using force armor), I usually die from few quick consecutive hits that I'm not able to escape (my favorite yesterday was mortar, horde, fast). I tried illusionist passive but it doesn't increase my survivability much.

My weapon is 880 DPS one hander with star emerald and +190 int. However my crit chance is only 16-17%.
DPS with magic weapon active is around 18k (I'm not near my PC now so can't check). Life is around 31k.
I can't afford any upgrades to gear on AH (EU server), anything that could increase my stats for more than several points, crit chance, attack speed costs above million (I bought gloves for 1 mln recently).

What stats should I look for on items for wizard? Except int/vit of course. I suspect my life regeneration is too small (around 500 I think). Is life on hit crucial for wizard?
Maybe someone can explain (or show a video) how to kite mobs that are faster than wizard and without some godly gear.

Wow you have a very nice weapon haha, I'm surprised your DPS number seems so low compared to it. I'm guessing you're using a shield instead of a source? I would try dropping Magic Weapon and putting in Mirror Images - Duplicates; if you feel like you're doing not enough damage, make sure you have Glass Cannon and get a good source (average DPS 200+). With 11% crit (no crit damage) and only a 870 1H I'm doing ~24k DPS.

    Anyways, kiting tips:
-When you see the monsters, cast hydra in front of you, then a line of 3 blizzards between you and them then start spamming your sig (oh yea I used Piercing Orb where you used RoF; I find the former more kite friendly and it does AOE)
-Before they close the gap, run back and re-blizz, or cast Duplicates. With the clones up you should get some free time to blast them with your spam (RoF or sig)
-Use the terrain; I like narrow passages or circling around cliffs/objects. This adds to the effectiveness of Duplicates as there's a higher chance of the clones containing the mob
-Use Illusionist so you can use Duplicates and/or Fracture more. If you feel like you're always out of room, perhaps try Wormhole instead of Fracture.
-Make sure you have at least 10% movement speed. I guess it's nice to have more (getting more move speed with legendary items), but I never had the money to try that (and I refused to wear Hammer Jammers....)

Regen is definitely more important than LoH, but since you have a weapon socket you can definitely give it a try. I would try to aim for at least 1k regen. The stats I usually looked for were All Resist and Regen, and Armor (strength) and the DPS mods were nice-to-haves.

Re: Need Inferno Act 2 Help

Thanks PhoeniX - my build now.
Here are the stats (without any spells), and sorry the weapon is 777 DPS - that's why I shouldn't write from memory...
    armor - 3632
    damage - 21288
    all resist - 400
    life - 27261
    attacks per second - 1.44
    crit hit chanse - 16.50%
    crit hit damage - 120%
    movement speed - +12%
    life per second - 322
With spells active that's 5992 armor, 24482 damage, 560 resists all and 632 life per second.

    I'm using source 43-195 dmg, 123 int, 66 vit, 15 MF.
I'll try using mirror images, indeed clones from fracture tend to occupy mobs for some time.

What you wrote about casting blizzard/hydra and running away works perfectly when mobs aren't too fast.
But fast creatures close the gap in 1-2 seconds - I'll see how mirror images performs here.

Re: Need Inferno Act 2 Help

For fast mobs (probably Fallen?), usually it's just impossible to outrun them completely. Which is why what I usually do is kiting them around some sort of loop (around a building, etc...) so that they get less chance to hit me. You'd definitely have to take some hits, but with this kiting strategy, together with other CDs (diamond skin / potion / teleport / mirror images), I'm usually able to keep my HP positive.

All right, mirror images changed everything.
It keeps them completely occupied for few seconds, just enough to kite them and let blizzard/hydra do the job.
Act 2 done, Belial is dead, life is good ;-)

Congrats! You had no issues with the enrage timer? I definitely would not like to go fight him again solo haha

It took two attempts, no enrage timer (probably, does it have an icon?).
He used his deadly attack with a lot of green circles exactly 3 times.

Re: Need Inferno Act 2 Help

I dropped Mirror images in Hell actually, but stuck now in Act 2 in the sewers were i should open west end east.
    36k dps
    33k life
    ~400 all resist

Arcane Orb (Tap the source) (perhaps change to something piercing?) and skill that dont use AP so much since i use blizzard and teleport
    teleport (wormhole)
    hydra (poision)
    Blizzard(Frozen Solid)
    Magic weapon (get mirror instead?)
    Energy Armor

but cant get through the elite packs, reflecting damage, shielded superfast mobs...
Should perhaps consider put up mirrors again?
I feel i take alot of damage, but i guess thats natural in Act 2, act 1 is like a walk in the park. And normal mobs die like a charm.
    Suggestions?
Have a very nice day folks
