I'm sorry but seeing $250 on the RMAH made me laugh... as in I don't know who would actually spend that much money on virtual ****.
The max amount you would actually spend on the RMAH? I feel like i'd only go like 10 bucks. I'd even feel like a sad sack of **** spending that on an item that will be obsolete before you know it.
Thoughts?
Yeah $10 would be about right. None of the stuff up atm is going to sell.
I also think its a bit stupid having 2 different auction houses. You should be allowed to buy and sell only gold for real money. Everything else uses gold to purchase. Then the market isn't split between the 2 houses.
Seems to me people already spend over 400$ per person, so I wouldn't go around saying that current items don't sale.
Keep in mind real money's value just as high as the amount a person has (or can get easily).
Personally I've got enough in-game wealth (at least 50-70m in DH's gear and decently geared wizard too + few millions of cash) so I have no need nor plans to purchase anything with real money. But I can see why some people would do that. Many people have limited time to play and they want to skip the "grinding" part and enjoy bashing skulls. I know some people who have few thousand bucks / euros to spend each month on luxury stuff. If portion of that monthly money goes on virtual goods, I see nothing wrong in it. Rich people tend to spend even more money on more useless stuff.
When I get to home from work, I'll try listing couple of amazing items too, just to see if people are actually buying them.
$10
Also, I had the same thought about the gold and the GAH. There's one snag with it though - it forces a "double tax" which penalizes sellers. All sellers lose 15% of whatever, right? Well if I want to sell my Stormshield for $5 then first I'll have to sell it for 2.5M gold or whatever. That'll get cut down to 2.125M gold. Then when I cash out my 2.125M gold (for $4.25) I'll get whacked again and only end up with $3.61, which is super lame.
$500. Maybe $1,000.
I tracked the RMAH all day. As a quick example, you can check 3:58:45 - 4:00:00ish. Demonstrates a few $200+ items being sold. Things were moving. Lots of things.

10$...per item? per month? per LIFE?
This is the actual question.
My answer? 20-30$ / month.
For personal use, $5 max per item. That would be, for example, a near perfect Stormshield.
And I wouldn't do that often, either, so I think I wouldn't spend more than $10 on my most expensive month.
But since that is apparently well below what the market values are of these digital non-items, I guess I'm going to be using the RMAH only to buy good deals for resell.
