    Build for a starter Amazon?

    Hey all,

So I don't have much experience with Amazons but I'd like to try one out, and was wondering what kind of build what be good for a starter (PvM)? I was thinking about going for a Lightning focused build - maxing out Charged Strike, Lightning Strike and Lightning Fury - then maxing out Valkyrie and putting the rest of the points into Dodge/Evade. Would that work/is it recommended for a beginner? If not, could you suggest something else? Thanks very much!

EDIT: I was thinking as another option, I could go for a build focused around Freezing Arrow and Multiple Shot, is that a workable build? Thanks

They are both workable builds. Hopwever I like FA/Strafe myself but multi is fine too. The lightning build being a bit better for untwinked play. You don't need to max Valk. Keep her at 17. She gets the last decent weapon upgrade at that level so you can save the other three points for something else.

Doctor: LOTS of planets have a North!!!

EDIT: I've decided to try the Freezing Arrow/Multiple Shot combo. THis is is what I have planned:

    20 Freezing Arrow
    20 Multiple Shot
10 Strafe (to finish monsters off/use as an alternative to Multiple Shot/to use against small groups/bosses)
12 Pierce (wasn't sure how many points is recommended but I figured 75% is decent!)
Then max Cold arrow as a synergy.

Suggestions? Perhaps I should not bother with Strafe and just pile more points into Pierce/Critical Strike?

Yep, both are workable builds. I am just trying to get a FA/strafe ama through hell.

Freezing arrow ripped through normal (after level 30) and nightmare. I'm struggling slightly in Hell with physical damage on strafe for cold immunes. I have considered respeccing to Cold and Fire arrows. Act bosses are tough - Durial and Diablo in particular for me.

You need a fair-decent bow for strafe. Do you already have a bow?

From your plans - I was suggest either multi or strafe, both probably isn't needed. And you probably wont need to max multi shot (it will cost a lot of mana). Extra points in strafe add a small amount of damage, which may or may not be needed.

    Just some thoughts

Make sure to get some mana leech so strafe will refill the mana bulb then start spamming FA again. Even a cheap bow like Witchwild String is fine, it just may take a while to kill bosses due to the lower damage. Check this out:

It's a bit dated but most of the data is still good. Get Razortail belt. It adds 33% pierce then you don't have to pump so many points into pierce.

Thanks for your advice - I'm already finding Multi Shot difficult to deal with mana-wise, but I've just invested in some +regen mana skills and some +mana attributes for my equipment so hopefully it'll be a little easier now
