New HC cause of death : "Death to baby". XDbut realized that with twin newborns, this was a decent game I could play one handed while holding a crying baby to calm her down in my left (Good Parenting 101). So I play a little, get pretty bored, and decide to go hardcore mode.
That caught my last character for sure. I knew I should have paused and put baby down, but hubris stayed my hand and I paid the price. Usually for bosses, I'll make sure I'm at full capability, but I didn't realize how dangerous those champions were in NM.
Let others play what and how they enjoy. You aren't any better.
I agree that hardcore is more fun though. Nearly everyone who tries it tends to agree - people just need to man up and try it.
I have a stupid question.
Hardcore is all about being careful. Isn't the act of snobing non-hardcore advice reckless ? If someone in softcore point out something you didn't think of that help survive, doesn't not listening to it be the polar opposite of the noble hardcore attitude ?
(I suppose the response will be "they can't point something I didn't think of" ;p)
Ofcourse, but the 1% of softcore players who do actually test stuff and think about it hardly get missed by the HC players. They reconigze whats important and what not.
The other 99% of the SC players just ignore skills we cant ignore, period. We dont listen to the LOOK AT THIS 432893284 DPS BUILD!!1!11
same- g5 mouse, have every action bound to mouse button. can play at about 80% perfect-ness while rocking her to sleep. its great.but realized that with twin newborns, this was a decent game I could play one handed while holding a crying baby to calm her down in my left (Good Parenting 101).
id would go one step further and just apply that to every other game, every game since d2 hc, for me, has been - meh- when you die you just start again.I realized there's really not much point to playing on softcore
[all just my opinion about the game, play it whatever way makes you laugh]
cheers!!
You're really pushing an abusive analogy. You could say "I wouldn't ask medical advice from a lawyer" or "I wouldn't ask legal advice from a doctor", and those are logically sound, but they don't carry the same negative connotation as the thirteen year old comparison.
So what is it you are really trying to say? That the gameplay advice given by a softcore player is not relevant to someone playing hardcore, or that a player who chooses to play softcore is immature regardless of his actual age?
Sure you can feel some sense pride for playing a mode a lot of people wouldn't, or don't really care about either way, but "looking down" on them or not talking with them? Seems childish.
I think looking down one's nose at SC players is a bit crass. There's a lot of good stuff to learn from SC players posting in the character strategy forums. Personally I think one of the best traits of HC players is quite often a good dose of humility. Do I think playing HC is more special than SC? Yeah, it is for me, but far be it for me to be critical or think less of anybody that doesn't see things the way I do.
Just sayin'...
Eschew obfuscation!
