I really do not like the fact that pvp here is going to be like WoW with battle grounds etc. I liked in Diablo 2 when someone would join a game and go hostile. It got your blood flowing and made the game more challenging. Even if you did die, you only lost gold, which was no problem. Now that Inferno is being nerfed, I do not feel like there is going to be much else to challenge me.
Hardcore? Sorry, not with all of the crazy lag spikes lately. PvP could have been the saving grace. Too bad it is going to be WOW style and not D2 style. Thoughts?
Never really "got my blood flowing", just made me quit games I was enjoying so that I didn't get tele pk'd by some bot sorc wearing paid-for gear.
Good riddance. Play FPS games if you want to kill players.
Thoughts? The Arena should be awesome.
Next.
I don't mind the arenas, but I'm a little worried about health globes(?) in the arena and matchmaking(?) and the general pretension that it's some serious business (too much balance)(?). D2 pvp, as ridiculous and messy it was, it was exactly the kind of mindless and casual fun Diablo needs to be. My worries might be illogical, but I just hope it's doesn't feel "mechanical". Logically thinking I thought the auction house would be a nice addition, but playing the game it "feels" really bad man. Hence my worry about the feel of pvp
I was never a pvp player myself but I can understand if people are upset about d3 becoming like wow.
You must understand that the masses are carebears and they will stop buying items in Rmah if they get killed constantly (especially in hc, or not to mention the pvp related exploits that will surface - oh the sweet tears).
I hope they never will try to balance classes or builds for PvP. That would ruin the game for everyone only interested in PvE. Patches with class and skill nerfs every week to make PvP fair and a serious competition... We dont need that in PvE games. If there is competitive arena PvP and they try to balance it I will probably stop playing the same day it goes live.
I agree. Arena like in WoW only leads to endless nerfs and people complaining demanding more nerfs or complaining because they think the class the play is underpowered. In a ARPG PvP should be for fun and it should make no difference if classes, builds or talents are balanced.
I really hope the PvP is full of such ridiculousness and nonsense that it in no way can be construed as anything other than hilarity.
The second someone takes it seriously is the second it will stop being fun. I want it to be horribly unmethodical. If it's anything where the environment is controlled enough that people can get mad at you for using the wrong skill against the wrong class, or something similar, then it'll be too MOBA-like and hence not worth my time.
So--those are my thoughts. If it's chaos implemented purely for amusement, it'll be awesome. If it in any way resembles something competitive, I think it will fail to achieve its main objective: fun.
Well maybe they need a pvp server for people who do not want just PvE. Like it or not, pvp and dueling was a good part of Diablo 2. At least for me and many others it was. Plus, it was never very serious, but it was so funny when people got pissed.
Besides, Inferno being hard with all of the crazy mods on some elite packs, is not really a challenge. You just kite kite kite then after about 10 minutes you kill everything, maybe take a few deaths. In pvp everything is unpredictable. That is when true skill and game play occur.
