There will always be more things in MMOs where people expend infinitely more time into it for a relatively small gain. With NV, most people find great things without any MF gear, so whats the real point? It could be "exploiting" a given mechanic of the game, but everyone can do it right now with the same effect. If you dont want to do it, then dont. If you want to, do it. But dont complain the people on the other side of the fence are doing something that is within the scope of the game. If Blizzard doesn't like it, they'll hit it with the nerf bat like they have every other time somethings comes up the dont like.

The point is that it's not more time invested -> more loot gained but it's G15/AHK/AutoIT/whatever macro pressed -> more loot gained. You don't realistically lose time doing it and you're greatly rewarded, thus it's no choice but you're punished if you don't do so.

MF was supposed to be a trade-off of damage/survivability <-> more loot and not a trade-off of macro + inventory space <-> more loot.

(Before I get any smart *** comments: I'm perfectly aware MF doesn't increase loot quantity, it does increase the quantity of useful loot by upgrading the quality of worse loot though)

Make gear part of NV, if you swap any gear, bye bye NV.

Re: Switching to MF gear before a boss kill?

I hate the whole "switch to MF gear to kill off boss" shenanigans.
My suggestion to prevent it would be that the MF you have when you enter an area is what's applied to the mobs in that area and that MF can only scale downwards from there on out. This would completely eradicate the use of switching gear.
It's so simple, i don't understand why Blizzard can't think of something as effective.

Agreed. That would be a neat solution.
Or even just a 5min cooldown before the MF from a gear switch takes effect. Would be possible to switch then, but highly ineffective.

Shouldn't lose the NV buff to be honest. While it would certainly work, there is no reason why people shouldnt be allowed to try a new item they find when they actually find it. Especially when other solutions would fix the MF issue just as well.

On the topic of MF, a mate of mine heard that MF switching does not work on bosses. I told him off and said it was lies. Can someone verify this?

Dropping NV on gear swapping wouldn't change a thing anyway: Wearing 300% in MF gear with zero stacks of NV is still way more rares than the 120-150% you'd have with a set of gear still capable of killing things with MF on it and keeping up NV stacks.

Unless you're a Demon Hunter that clears Whimsy in full MF gear anyway.

It won't be this way soon, with the guaranteed rare per elite pack with (5 stacks of?) NV. I don't think switching gear should make you lose your stacks, though. There are more elegant ways of solving this problem... if indeed blizzard considers this a problem.
