If I get a unique / champion pack / act boss down to 5% health with 0% mf on my gear, then switch to 200+ mf gear to finish the last 5% of its health do I get a 200%+ mf drop?
Yes.moreletters
My hope is that some day it is changed so that doing this will make all MF apply negatively, in order to discourage such nonsense.
I am SO glad .3 is devaluing MF by adding guaranteed rares on champ kills. MF switching is a garbage mechanic.
IMO need a time-average-MF mechanic, so that people who want MF need to find real gear with MF (instead of garbage last-second switches that have some MF)
Simple solution: MF/GF bonuses take 5 minutes to "kick in".
People would just have 1 person kite the mobs once they are low on health, to prevent them from resetting, while the 3 others swap gear in town or fielded, managing just enough dps to prevent the mobs from regenerating. 5 minutes passes then Boom.
Just an example, as absurd as it might seem. If it's the path of least resistance people will travel it.
Don't get me wrong though; l loathe the gear-swapping "mechanic" as much as anyone and truly hope for a better solution being patched in, eventually.
I think a 5 minute timer might be enough to make switching gear less efficient and more hassle than it is worth to most people, while not really penalizing folks who are putting on gear before a run too much.
A 5 minute timer would guarantee that elites would have the DoT debuff. For major bosses, swapping in +300 MF gear at the last second doesn't seem to have nearly the same effect.
they should just make it so that whatever MF you're at while damaging monsters, the lowest MF equipped at the time should be the MF when the monster dies.
