RL: Work. I figure I'll go to bed early. Was a rough weekend with Denmark beating Holland and all.
Diablo: Nooo... Maybe some D2.
btw, where are all the mat/pat/guardian/whatevertheird3counterpartsare-threads? I've been looking forward to them.
I'd love to be able to share, but even with 100+ hours I'm still in Act I Hell. ...Though that time's been split among three different characters, so I haven't exactly been focused on getting to / beating Inferno.
RL: Pretty meh weekend overall. Did a whole lot of nothing, including watching about 4-5 hours of Let's Plays for Dead Island and Towns. Each. DI still looks like a terrible game to me, whilst Towns... actually looks pretty neat. I spent the rest of my time contemplating my big life issue and eating a bunch of junk. Oh, and of course --
D3: For some of the people who have been around a while, I had a reunion with a former SPF member. Friday night, FastE and I joined up with jamesixgun who had just purchased the game on a whim. I was dead tired, but I did my best to fill in JayGun with some of the early ins and outs of D3. It was still a pretty good play session up to the SK. Later during the weekend, I brought my solo Monk up to the last major area of Act I Hell, bringing her pretty much up to par with my MP Monk.
As the difficulty increases, I become more and more frustrated with the game. I'm not looking for an easy road to Inferno, but there's a difference between "easy" and "a good chance I'll die twice to each elite/champ pack." Makes me think about doing some item runs somewhere, but unlike D2 where you can farm Meph or Pindle over and over for a while with relative ease, there's nothing like that here.
But I DID find my first legendary over the weekend. It was in the cemetery of Act I, just outside the crypts where you find the SK crown. ...It's not a terrible helmet, but it's also not at all suitable for my Monk and could be easily replaced by a magic item. C'est la vie.
@Fredon't think anyone has beat inferno yet, that's why there are no writeups. If you want to see people's builds, check out the Wots Yer Build thread.
@TRM: The difficulty gets worse in act2. I put aside my hax hammer aside for the first half of act2 in favour of some more appropriate weapons for my level. It chose a couple of axes with about 220 dps each. My safety and killing speed was great until the Oasis, than I died 6 times to a single bosspack. And a few times to every bosspack after that. I switched back to my good weapon about 3 areas later, to keep myself from tearing my hair out.
RL: I need to take my clothes from one cupboard to the next. Except the next cupboard is allready full. Will have to get creative to fit all of the stuff in there.
D3: Maybe.
OVG: Minecraft. Have a few neat ideas.
RL: Got a carb service kit for the lawnmower, new spark plug/air filter, etc. Mower was running, but service was overdue. It actually helped. I'd say that the mower is now doing at least an additional +2-4 points of Grass damage.
Diablo: Started a Sorc! Wiz. Whatever. Her name is Annabelle. Like her bigger sister DH, she's not going to be twinked. At least not until she reaches Hell. That kinda means not even buying vendor items for a while, because I now see that the entire player account has a common gold pool. It would be one thing if I chose to hand a lvl 1 300K gold, but I haven't. I have no idea how much gold she's personally racked up, and I definitely can't be arsed to try to tabulate.
It kinda irks me that raw weapon damage increases her spell damage. At least if she wants more Arcane Power or regen, then it seems she'll have to don Wiz items in order to get it.
This thread probably isn't the place for such kibitzing... but oh well. Still having D3 fun for the time being. Semi-nekkid characters are awesome in their own ways.
RL: Work, and posting from there... shame on me.
Long time no SPF. Again, shame on me. But the play session with TRM and FE Friday, after I finally broke down and bought DIII, I thought it best to become involved again, if only in a somewhat minor fashion. After all, I only found and became involved with the SPF because I started playing D2 again in preparation for D3...
Diablo: perhaps another attempt at normal Belial with Judith the Monk, though it depends entirely on how I feel after workies, and how quickly I get today's 365 shot made and processed and posted. (I make a photo every day, and have since December 29 2011; today will be the 166th day in a row that I've made, processed and shared a picture, and is also part of the reason I haven't been around here, or playing any games at all, though I don't even own a computer that will run D2 any more...)
RL: Not a lot. Test Thursday.
D2: Yes
OVG: Nope.
Jamiesixgun!! Welcome back :-) I was wondering where you were. Hope life has been treating you well, but with a hobby ike photography you seem to be doing ok?
RL: Sweden is playing Ukraine today. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
D3: Brigitte, my fierce monk girl is picking up the pieces of Zoltan Kulle. Normal. Any day soon I will progress...
RL: Major storm outside is major. I have some duties outside... Also, my throat hurts. Just another monday...
D3: I'll check on my lvl 60 DH, parked somewhere inside arreat crater. I'm not all over-excited to finish act 3, since I just hate to kill act 4 real boss:
Spoiler
A2Boss also saves to hell dif. (and probably, inferno as well) all his mojo seemingly lost on NM. That was kinda boring yesterday...
@TRM: Where are you on act 1? Place to farm: Highland Passage. (After leorics manor, before entering the prison). After killing the traitorous guy, don't enter the prison and just leave the game. Click on resume and your checkpoint will trigger put you back at the entrance of highlands passage. There, you'll get n.º 1 or 2:
1) Event: you meet with a mean spawn, cultists summoners and etc. and have to kill the traitorous guy that drops items (you can try to lure him without getting attention of the big champs behind him). If you complete the event you gain some reward and can buy something from the vendor that can be good or not.
2) Without event: you will see moon clans. It's easier to clear up and there is a vendor at the end of the first section, that can sell good stuff sometimes, if you're not into AH.
I spent a while there. 1 is better if you can handle the bosspacks (since the vendor seems to be better imo), number 2 is better if you're really poor and don't plan to include a bosspack in the equation. In both numbers you can also see a dumb chest in the end of first section. Not exactly pindle, but it does the trick.
After the prison section, on the red dungeon before a1boss, you can find decent gear. I found a rare crossbow that had almost the same dps of my AH hand crossbow. It's a decent place to run and do full clears if you're comfortable there...
A hearty welcome back to THE one and only JayGun. Even if you don't frequent us with your presence, I hope you at least pop in from time to time and let us know how you're doin'!
Huh, I was actually at Halls of Agony 1 when I booted up D3 today. Thanks for the idea, and double thanks for making sure I saw it elsewhere. Not a bad idea, not bad at all. Much appreciated. I wish I had some reference on the general ilvl that vendor's gear is usually at...
Thing is, I can't help but have the same mentality I do whenever I restart D2. I don't sit at NM Mephisto to farm mid-late game gear for a few hours. Instead I push on to Hell Meph since he can drop everything he can in NM and more.
So instead of sitting around in one spot for a while, I ended up moving on. I put a couple/few hours in, and I'm now stopped in Kulle's sanctum. Deaths aplenty still (especially against a pack of those whirling dervish thingies in Act II that had Jailer, Molten, Extra Health), but either my gear's improved or I'm starting to get used to using all my skills at the right times. I'm dying against maybe one every three or four packs, and sometimes that's 'cuz I'm running into double packs... but even then I've survived quite a few instances where I thought I was dead meat for sure.
Death is part of the process on act 2 solo hell, I guess...
I'm not 100% on the ilevels. After opening the 2 lockets, I like to clear the shadows on the Realm of Shadow for gold/XP. Demon Hunter kinda blows 'em. The problem is the mad ghost elite that shows up once in a while... I found out that lots of enemies + low health + demon hunter = XP + gold. I reached 58 there to use gear from AH (not a lot of levelling).
Advice? After you finish Kulle, go for the boss and give him a try. It's a matter of skill, not gear (mostly; since he usually 1-hit ko people). Also, on act 3 the areas just have better drops. Its just a matter of avoiding lickers...
