    What makes a good rare good?

    Hey all.

    I'm still fairly new to the d2 scene. I've been playing for about 3 months, have multiple mats/pats, and am currently working towards a grail. None of that is what this thread is about.

    I'm talking about rares.

    Specifically, I still have trouble determining what makes a good rare. Everyone knows that the Shako is amazing, SOJs are godly, etc. You can easily find multiple threads gushing about how sexy Enigma is, but there are no threads to tell you if your "Corpse Trample" rare boots are any good, or just food for Charsi.

    I hope this can be a general thread wherein noobs like me can post our rare items for critique by seasoned veterans.

    That being said, here are some rares I've picked up in my travels. I consider these to be the best rares in my collection. Are any of them worthwhile? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? If they suck, why?

    Another member here had put together a pretty nice guide on rare rings and amulets but took it down because of getting too many private messages or something.

    Anyway, I'll put my two cents in on the rings and amulets. For me I look for ones that have at least 3 of the following (4 is preferred).

    Amulets
    +2 to a class skill (not a tree skill) *essential
    10 faster cast rate *highly desirable
    40+ life (max is 60)
    60+ mana (max is 90)
    15+ to all resists (max is 20)
    15+ to dexterity (max is 20)
    20+ to strength (max is 30)

    Rings
    10 faster cast rate *highly desirable
    30+ life (max is 40)
    60+ mana (max is 90)
    10+ to all resists (max is 11)
    10+ to dexterity (max is 15)
    15+ to strength (max is 20)
    100+ to attack rating (max is 150, but uses combo of prefix and suffix to get that high)
    +7 life stolen (max is 8)


    Keep in mind that rare rings and amulets can have up to 6 affixes, no more than 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes. Here's a breakdown of all possible affixes:
