Hey all, been a while since I've posted, been in lurker mode
Anyway, curious how people are playing, are you putting all your time into one character, building one of each class, etc.
Personally, I've got a 'main' barb who's into act 2 NM at level 37, and a 20ish demon hunter in act 2 normal. Plan to keep the DH not terribly far behind the barb, and probably experiment with some of the builds I haven't played yet shortly. Been pretty time-limited, so I haven't even made a monk/witch doctor yet, and only messed around with a wizard on my 'get to HC' softie character.
I'm digging the barb, but feeling (as I always have with my HC toons) that it's a little risky to put all my eggs in one basket, and of course it's fun playing the new classes I haven't had a chance to use yet.
One at a time so far. I'll break from that strategy when a character goes too long without dying and I need to change things up. As it stands, death is a mixed blessing... I'm on my 4th DH, but the deaths have given me an excuse to not MF and try a Wizard and a Barb as well. In D2 I would also break from that strategy when it became useful to have multiple characters, eg a mepher, a baaler, a nihl runner, a chanter, a boer, etc, but I don't think that's going to come up in D3. Note that when I say "strategy," I mean it's my strategy for having fun: if I was strategizing how to do well I'd always make sure the first thing I did after any given death was power level a second character up to 60 (and I'd also make sure to grind the first one to 60 in the first place >_>).
Master one class then use it to gear others that I want to dabble with. I did this with the old fishymancer back in d2 and could pretty much solo through the game without twink gear.
So far I was using my 60 DH (R.I.P.) but I might have to change that seeing that most people are using barbs and they seem well equipped for the job of HC not counting Inferno, without too much trouble from bosses or elites.
I'll probably just stick to DHs till i'm well stacked with gold to dabble with other classes.
I'm planning to fill the 10 character slots with 5 HC and 5 SC chars (a male and a female of each classes, hah!).
I already got a lvl60 monk (sc) in inferno act2, and currently I'm trying to get to inferno with my HC wizard.
I'm not sure what will I do if I succeed, but then at least I'll have a character for both sc and hc to help out my future ones.
Probably by the time I accomplish my goal with that wizard, 1.0.3 will be here, so I guess I'm gonna try to get thru inferno with my monk
