D2 Expansion

I wasn't entirely sure where to post this because it's D2 related, but aimed at the D3 community, so please move if needed.

I'm no technological superhero, but... Would Blizzard have a sort of 'basis' of D2 with which they could literally make an expansion of D2, literally just with fresh quests/characters?

If this is possible, would you buy it, after everything that's happened with D3?

Personally, I would buy it in a heartbeat...

P.S. Don't tell me about mods etc, it's not the same as I'm suggesting

Yes, if such an expansion came out I would buy it without second thought, regardless of how D3 is. If however, they butcher the current style of D2 with such an expansion, I would be a sad panda.

Yes I'd throw my money at a D2 expansion. Hell even a mod. Anything to erase D3 from my memory.

If a hypothetical D2 expansion would come out, I would say it is likely that DRM would take precedence over offline-play, unfortunately.
