My current status is that I can free farm Act I inferno (stacking 5 valor killing butcher, etc). When I enter the first area of Act II inferno I die in about 3-4 hits to white mobs, champions just feel broken usually killing my with mortars or molten or something before im even in melee range.
Here are my statistics (no buffs or mantras applied).
Armor 4176 - 58% reduction
Dodge - 40%
Resist All 334 - 54% resist
DEX 988
VIT 864 - 31K health
Damage Rating - 11000 (This feels low compared to friends using similar DPS weapons... mine is 748DPS)
I tried all the cookie cutter inferno build from increasing my mitigation more to stacking skills the lower enemy damage. It doesn't really seem to matter. I always use blind, breath of light, serenity a mantra and 3 defense passives. Usually thunderclap on main and sweeping wind on secondary... but cant ever live long enough to charge sweeping wind.
I'm looking for advice from a monk with a proven Act III\IV inferno build.
I share your pain, it seems like I've hit a brick wall upon starting Act 2 Inferno (nerf Blizzard game developers) and am struggling to find items I can afford on the AH to buy which are better than my current gear.
From what I've read so far on various forums, you need to up your resist all to around 800 and your armor should be a lot higher also (7k).
I agree with that. 800@ resists is almost bare minimum for A2+
That's almost the same DPS as my weapon and you have more Dex than I do and yet I do 20k (with buffs) total DPS. I'm guessing you have low attack speed? Can you give us a bit more info on your gear? Most likely your issues are gear related and not build related.
No I have > 2 attacks per second attack speed is a priority over dex in my current gear. I am discovering I need more life on hit. I added about 300 yesterday and it helped in a noticeable way.
Actually I can farm act 3 fine with only 600 resist(Post-nerf Tyrael). One of my friends found this golden build somewhere, which I have been using ever since. http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...Xjg!XYU!ZaYYcY The build is based on constant high spirit regeneration and works very well with high LoH and high IAS. Keeping your HP up and doing decent amount of damage.
Lendari try to rise your resists to at least 600 using One With Everything passive.
You can use Mantra of Healing with Time of Need to rise your resists from 500 to 600 if you are having hard time with finding better gear.
Use Deadly Reach#Keen Eye it will rise your armor to around 6k and is also great against those pesky Wasps.
With 600 resist and 6k armor you shouldnt die easily in act 2 (I finished act 2 with around 500 resists and 4k armor but had to try really hard).
Damage reduction increases from those 2k or 300 resist all may not seem really huge but they really are and make a big difference.
If you have 58% reduction from armor and 54% reduction from resistance and mob hits you for 100000 damage you will take 19320 damage per hit if you have 66% resist and armor (around 600/6k resist/armor) you would take only 11560 damage from the same hit which is almost 50% less. Of course in act two the % reduction stated in your character screen is inaccurate because mobs there are really level 62 but that doesnt change fact that investing in resistance and armor is important. If you would like to know more about armor and resistance % damage reduction formulas try searching forums it must be here somewhere :F.
Also dont feel bad if your dps seems low compared to your friends if they are playing other classes usually monk have the lowest dps listed from all 5 classes.
I think you need to farm the butcher/AH more. Act 2 is a huge pain for me with:
16k dps
6k + armor (after passives)
500+ resists (can't remember)
I've been using that build too Fusuke, and it's incredibly strong. Just the synergy between high armor and spirit regen give me so much sustain with LoH and IAS, especially because healing power is directly correlated with spirit regen via Transcendence.
