I have dragged my WD up kicking and screaming to lvl 57, and equipped him with some pretty impressive kit.
Or so I thought. I have 5k, and 35k health.
But that is nowhere NEAR the DPS I see bounced around on this and other forums.
But then I read of lvl 60's with 20k DPS...WTF
HOW do you get so much, is is simply a matter of spending huge money in the AH, I am a bargain hunter, and the idea of farming for a few million GP does not appeal to me.
I an in Act 2 Hell, and after my last upgrade, have a big enough DPS and health pool to survive those stupid vortex elites (Please remove vortex!) but I know Act 3 is a big step up.
Wait till you get 60 lvl and play inferno. Good items will come in your hands and you will get some massive DPS boost. My dps was sth like yours when I was at your lvl. Now on 60 lvl inferno I'm 45k dps.
Just got to level 60 and beat Diablo in Hell.
25K DPS. I bought it off the AH (of course):
717 DPS blue weapon (just bonus damage/attack speed)
90~215 offhand with +INT and +poison dart damage%
For a long time I've maintained blue rings and amulets with +damage and +attack speed (cheap and easy to find). I recently switch my amulet to +105 INT/15% attack speed which improved my damage by about 1.5K (from 23.5k to 25k)
I also got gloves with +INT and +attack speed.
Everything else I require +INT and +resists. I sprinkle in some +vit, +mana, +mana regen, +crit, and a few other useful skills.
Before 60 my weapon was 350 DPS, so probably more like 10~12k dps.
Instead of being able to use all the useful Witch Doctor skills and passives, I have to over-power this game with straight Damage Per Second. If I could use 12 skills and enough passives, I could over-come super powered enemies with situational skills and kiting, but alas, the nephalem valor (or whatever it is) requires a single set of 6 skills all the time. (well 4 skills, one for spirit walk and one for my main attack)
Tip: Search on AH with max level 60 and filter on Reduced Level Requirement (filter with minimum 3 for your lvl 57 char). Then you will see lvl 60 items that works even for your character, and they have much better stats and are often not that expensive (since many sellers compare those items against lvl 60 items only).
For some reason, those items do not appear when you just search for your lvl 57 character?
