I saw this posted in another thread, and I find it a very valuable resource. However, I really want to know how combination modifiers work. When you roll 2 stats into one modifier, does it only apply to dex/vit/int/str? Is there a reduced amount per attribute? Can you roll multiple combination modifiers per item? Can you roll a single dex mod on top of a dex/vit mod?
Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.
The "max per item" is a little misleading. For example, many items cap at 70 res all, although a scant few do allow 80. I think someone should redo that chart with numbers in the columns instead of bullets.
Uh, what?IIRC, it varies by item; I think on some it's +100 for the single attribute and +100/+100 for the double, which means if you can choose it's a no-brainer. However, usually the single-attribute bonus is higher. IIRC, boots and gloves have higher max Dex, chest and pants higher max Vit, shoulders and belts higher max Strength, and headgear and bracers higher max Int.Absolutely. Once you get to the second half of Act 2 Nightmare, you'll be picking them up left and right (on blues). I've even had rares with separate bonuses to all 4 attributes. For some reason I suspect the linked chart you gave gives a somewhat unrealistic max, because I think you'd really need to be modstacking on a rare to get up to a 400 bonus without gems.
Wait what? I've been farming Inferno act 3 pretty much non-stop for the past few days and I haven't seen too many pieces with a dex mod and a dex/vit mod, or an int mod and an int/vit mod. I've seen some on the AH, but it seems to be pretty rare. I doubt they drop non-stop in act 2 nightmare.
And act 2 nightmare has combo mods on its short list of affixes? Good to know I guess ...
Still looking for how the roll range works for combo mods, and if you can roll multiple combo mods per item. A dex mod, a dex/vit mod, and a dex/int mod would give 3 dex rolls; just wondering if that's possible, what what the max range for the combo rolls are at max item level.
Max range on items is going to depend on which item it is on. For example, bracers seem to have a much lower maximum on single/combo mods than, say, chest armor. A lot of them seem to be a little different from the others. I think what you're looking for is likely going to have to wait until data mined from the game is sanitized a bit.
dethklok was right on for this.
It's complicated though, not all item slots even have a level 63 variant, and for those items that do some of them get the "primary" variant of certain mods that others can only get the "secondary" variant of. There also might be a "prefix" limitation and a "suffix" limitation; that'd make it a LOT less likely to get all 3 of your primary stat modifiers on the same item, for instance. It's really, pretty hard to tell though. I'd have to spend some time digging through the auction house to even make an educated guess on whether or not there's a 3 suffix / 3 prefix limitation.
For instance, bracers can only get the secondary variant of all stat mods. Secondary variants of stat mods max out at +100. So if you rolled +int +int/dex +int/vit you could get up to 300 int on bracers. Gloves can get the primary variant of the single-stat dex or int modifiers, but only the secondary variant of the combo mods. Primary variants of single-stat mods cap at +200. So, the best possible combo could give you up to 400 int - but I seriously doubt more than a few items with >300 exist in the game right now.
Primary variant of combo mods caps at +150/150 for item level 63, +133/133 for item level 62. Amulet/Ring, and all 3 types of class-specific offhand at least can only spawn up to item level 62. Single-stat mods cap at +169 for item level 62.
Bracers, ring, only can gain secondary variants of stat mods. Probably others, I haven't gone through every single slot.
Amulet can gain primary variant of any stat mod (even combo mods). So highest stat on an amulet with 3 mods of same stat would be 133+133+169 = 435. Good luck with that though.
Primary variant of Vit (single stat) can show up on Chest slot.
Primary variant of Str (single stat only) can show up on Belt (makes sense for barb class-specific slot). There should be another slot but I got tired of digging through the DB to figure it out. I might clean up this post later and make it comprehensive but for now I'm bored.
Primary variant of Dex (single stat) can show up on gloves, boots
Primary variant of Int can show up on Helm, gloves
Crunching through the list to see where the primary variants of the combo mods can apply....
Amulet, but they cap at item level 62 (+133/133)
Weapon. caps at level 63 so you can get 150+150+200 = 500 of any stat. Again, good luck with that though.
diablonut.incgamers.com to dig through the datamine yourself. Keep in mind, although it's datamined, there are some things in there that are inconsistent. This leads me to believe that not EVERYTHING is correct in the database. So you have to think a few of them through. Like, I'm pretty sure the 2nd slot for primary Str is offhand, but it's displaying strangely in the database (cuts off at a low rank??) Since there are a few suspect things in there you have to reason your way through everything. Possibly by looking to see how high stats go on the AH.
This stuff eventually deserves a complete breakdown that's tabulated and cleaned up for presentation. If formatted properly this is the kind of info that I'd request a sticky for (but not if it's ad-hoc messy or incomplete like the post I've just made)
Aye, shoulders are the 2nd Str slot, Pants I believe can also roll primary Vit.
