So I've been venturing out in NM earlier (I say earlier because blizzards incompetence has placed the infinite-patch-loop on me again), and I just couldnt help but notice... the followers are all useless past normal mode. They can NOT seem to deal any sort of damage even with the best of available weapons (available to their level that is). Their skills are all but useless, and basically they only serve as poor meatshields. I use the Templar mainly because I need a melee meatshield, and he is the LEAST useless of them all due to his pathetic aura, subpar healing, and his stuns. But other than those, it's just ridiculous how they still deal damage at 30-70 per hit even with good weapons, armor, and trinkets.
I can't believe how they were overlooked, but then again, considering the incredible amount of flaws and oversights D3 has, I shouldn't be surprised.
My question is, do you use followers for your singleplayer-but-still-online games, and if so, what purpose do they serve you?
They provide a bit of control and support. They are not there to do damage.
So basically we have a character who can do virtually no damage whatsoever, at best give a very short (occasional) stun or blind, and only serve to take hits for you (which only works if you use the 1 melee of 3 followers).
Oh yeah, great addition to the team then. I know I shouldnt be thinking of Diablo 2 mercenaries, and I try not to, but making a follower THIS weak just sounds retarded to me. They might as well NOT have placed them in the game to begin with.

If by support, you mean turning me into a chicken, then yes, they do give me support.
The Enchantress isn't too bad. Sure, she isn't adding much direct damage for me, but 3% attack speed aura with the occasional +15% additional damage debuff isn't too bad. I've also got her using force armour to slow enemies sometimes, but I never notice it, if it ever takes effect. It's just a shame that I can't opt to use her abilities for her. It's pretty rare that she casts something when I can take full advantage of it.
I always take the enchantress with me. She rocks.
Saved my life a couple of times by changing elites into chickens, giving me enough time for some 'free' damage or healing.
She even changed Belial and Glom(?) into a chicken for me lol.
Was great !
25% of their MF goes to you.
Just make ur Templar a total meat shield And the stun pretty useful for my long fuse extra 3 hits
I put a cold weapon on my Templar so he snares monsters...
Does anyone know if a cold weapon on an Enchantress does the same thing? Not sure if her attack takes from the weapon properties.
