I've turned all the graphics settings and resolution as low as they can go, is there anything more I can do to improve my sometimes unplayable framerate?
Some info:
---
I'm playing on Battle.net(USWest).
My processor is 1.8GHz AMD 2850e, with 2GB RAM.
My video card is... wait for it...... onboard graphics. I KNOW it sucks. But why does Baldur's Gate 2 run fine but D2 runs really choppy?
---
I love my fishymancer. Necromancers are the reason I came back to the game. But when I have 15-20 skellies + revives running around against 20-30 harpies and maggots or whatever, I'm running at 10-12 fps. It can go as low as 5-6 fps.
So, what are my options?
Does this happen in SP as well or only on b.net?
Try running the D2VidTest. Iirc that is what it is called. It is located in the D2 folder. It will give you an option to do 2d or 3d. There is also the option of the glide wrapper if running the video test again does not help. There is also the process of updating everything, drivers and windows, if you have not already tried that.
That would be my tip aswell. Let us know how it works out!!
Peace
Thanks Ladvarian! The switch to 2D solved the framerate problem, now I run at around 60fps, even against Andariel, who with all her adds and fire and stuff was making me run at 10-12fps before.
Though now sometimes the colors mix themselves up a bit(purple health globe, pixelated rainbow-colored stones), but only after I've been in the game a bit. I'm guessing that updating my drivers and such might help for that.
That's a small thing, though. It's MUCH better than it was. I appreciate the help fellas.
If you close "explorer" with the task manager, youll be able to fix that on most systems. But you have to do that every time you play d2..

Archone, I appreciate how helpful you've been in this and many other threads. The D3 General Discussion forum has been taking the lion's share of my mod time, and it's nice to see that newcomers' questions here are being appropriately addressed. That goes to others as well.
