we all know whats going to happen in the end of diablo 3, diablo is chained up in hell because of some sacrifice a hero made and then comes diablo 4 where he comes back and reigns evil over tristram and the high heavens
If this is supposed to wrap up sanctuary, we will be fighting the leftover baddies and Trang'oul will come in and "unmake" sanctuary. The evils will still be in the abyss or w/e with lilith so Blizz has an opening for them to come back. Blizz focus will be on Titan at this time so diablo will take another backseat.
My take on D3 story
"No matter what you do you'll never defeat me!" Bad Guy1

"Beating me means nothing cause there is even a more powerful evil force to destroy after me! BG1
"You will never destroy my awesome plan of evil awesomeness!!!" BG2
make baddies plan look like child's play
"No matter I have a more evil plan of evilness that you can not overcome"
make short work of 'evil plan'
"Yes, but that was not my grand plan of super evil that will destroy you!!"
thwart yet another cliche plan
"That plan was meaningless and you wasted your time because you will never defeat my evil power of super evil and scariness"
beat BG2
"No matter there is another more evil force then myself that you could never defeat with all your power"
