So I pay for a Collector's Edition of a game I can not play... even solo...
Do what you want with this post, I just got to vent my frustration somewhere.
Things I consider broken in this game:
Lack of Singel Player + LAN
To have a HC-character die due to lag in a solo game is just wrong.
And this is when the servers allow me to play... which hasn't been for the last hour at least... which is mainly the reason for my frustration at the moment.
And also that when Blizzard says that the servers are up, they oftentimes mean that they are not. - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/status
"Thank you for your patience." in messages everywhere also really ticks me off every time I see it.
Lack of option to see every drop in the game
This whole "pick up and drop so my friend can see it"-minigame is just tedious.
Equipment gimping
There should be some class-specific gear, but not it feels the other way around with classes being unable to use whole categories of gear. Why should a monk not be able to use a bow when a wizard can?
Lack of stat placement
Blizz says it was a broken minigame, all you did was 'all vit'... so they moved that broken minigame to the gear...
Lack of value in stats
All that matters is DPS + HP, and DPS is dependant on one single stat.
Lack of movement while map is open
Yeah, they want us to focus on the action and not the map, I get it, so instead of looking straight on the centre of the action I look at the corner of the screen about a quarter of the time
Lack of [W]
Yup, I for one miss being able to switch gear and skills quickly depending on the situation.
Strange control of skills
I feel kind of handicapped with these 1-5-buttons
Alls skills are dependent of DPS
This could really have been made more interesting, it just feels so cheaply made.
Lack of interesing socketables
I really find the gems more interesting with so many levels.
But I really miss the effect of runewords. They could make gemwords as simple as +1 random stat per extra unique kind of gem.
I also miss jewels with their random stats.
Lack of interesting crafting
The blacksmith havn't really provided me with anything useful, and I've used him regurly up to lvl 50 on two different classes.
The Jeweler is ok albeit expensive, but I can live with that.
What I really miss is the weird recepies from the horadric cube that would let you reroll stats, enchant items, add sockets and so forth. I'm not saying the cube itself should be in the game, just that there are some awesome mechanics that could be implemented as additional Artisans and recepies.
Lack of useful Uniques (oh, sorry, I meant "Legendary Items")
Most rare drops in the game was obsolete 5 levels before you were able to quip it...
Yeah, I know they are going to fix this. It still bothers me now though.
Real Money Auction House
Pay to Win edition. My view of it.
In my eyes, there should only be a Item <-> Item auction house, would be interesting trades that way.
Drama
Seriously... why the long speeches everywhere? Even on act-bosses?
Act-bosses
Why are they easier than any random elite/champion running around? I imagine that in hell, might makes right, that should be reason enought to have act-bosses that are more powerful than, at least most, random encounters.
Blizzard have always been an awesome company in my eyes and always "delivered". Always awesome games with awesome cinematics. But with the state D3 is in at the moment I feel cheated.
Perhaps my frustration will fade off in a month or two when they have servers that are working and I can use the product I have spent my money on.
Feel free to begin your "This is not D2!!!one!"-rant now.
In Diablo 2 they at least bothered to change boss colours on different difficulties, I enjoyed killing green Diablo for example.
The randomisation on levels is somehow limited as well. You encounter same monsters always, it lacks a variation.
Not going to bother addressing the other points, but just to quickly address this one did you know you can shift+click to give them a link to your gear in chat? Don't have to drop anything at all for them to see it. (If you did know that and find shift+click too tedious, I don't know what to say.)Lack of option to see every drop in the game
This whole "pick up and drop so my friend can see it"-minigame is just tedious.
Here's my quick response in no specific order. Has both bits of info and some suggestions.
1) DPS is affected by: Primary stat, crit chance, +critical hit damage, attack speed, and +elemental damage modifiers. Skills are also affected by class-affixes that are rare and item-slot specific.
2) Rebind your skill keys to better fit your playerstyle.
3) Shift + click an item in chat makes links the items to all your party members (or people you whisper to)
4) All you care about is vit pre-inferno. All resists and other resistances become very important late-game.
5) Don't use the RMAH
6) Legendary items are being remade in patch 1.1
7) They wanted to make elites/champs the most engaging since they're the primary way to get loot.
Don't know if this is helpful to you or if you're open to this info, but there you go.
hi u forgot to add
MY BARBARIAN GOT RAGE instead of mana???? wtf, when did arreat summit barbarian go fansypants and drop their mana.
did u forget to add.
ALL CHARATCTERS WIL BE EXACTLY THE SAME ON LEVEL 60, only thing that will differ your char from another is the skit gear.
By moving the 'broken minigame' to the gear you are required to choose between damage and health, so it is no longer a 'broken minigame' but a continuous decision you have to make between survivability and offensive power.
Also DPS is affected by a few affixes: crit chance/dmg, IAS and primary attribute; meaning you have to judge what combination of these will be most beneficial for you given your weapon and skill use.
And I'm not sure of other classes but Wizards have a slew of non-dps related spells: teleport, mirror image, slow time, energy armor, wave of force, frost nova, some runes of familiar and some runes of other spells.
More response then I expected. I'm just going to adress this line as a collective response for all your posts.
I am very open to all info/help, I just had a small rage-fest yesterday about not being able to login and I felt I had to vent it.
I just took it out on basically all aspects of the game instead of just the the login-issue at hand, my bad.(I see I forgot to add the rainbows/color controversy)

Hum, don't forget that you speak about a game that is out only since 2 weeks.
You cannot expect the "quality" // "interest" that D2 provides after an expansion an 10+ years of versionning.
keep in mind that things are likely to evolve. when d2 first came out, it was drastically different than the d2lod of today: rares were king (must imbue lances). stupid skeleton minions, stop blocking me. what the hell are synergies? my stash is the size of an ant.
if d3's still around in say 10 years, it will probably feel like (and be) a different game. there are some...offputting aspects of d3, but there's a lot of good too. here's to hoping they eventually fix the bad
