Thumbs up Prevent bots from spamming keyloggers solution.

In light of the increasing number of D3 accounts being compromised, I suggest a solution to stop those bots from posting keylogger links.

    Pretty simple solution actually:

    1) all newly joined members need to have a mod approved their post before it could be displayed

    2) Only members with at least 10 posts (all of which are approved by a mod) can post a new topic

This is the current solution for another gaming forum and it is really effective in stopping bots/trolls, although more work has to be done on the mods' part.

    Hi raveharu.

We actually don't suffer too much from this because of the registration system we use. It;s not bots that are the problem it's people who register properly then post links. There is no way to stop this, even with a posts limit in place. I think the moderater team here do a great job at keeping these forums clean, they are always quick and deal with things right away.

If it ever did get out of hand then we would have to look at tightening things up more but for now I think the mod team have it in hand.

We've discussed these issues at length in the mod forum over the years, mostly before we had the Captcha in place. Things have quietened down since that's been in here but it doesn't stop actual people registering properly with dishonourable intentions.

Luckily we have a very experienced and dedicated team of moderators and many members who are quick to alert us to dubious threads when they are posted.

I would never put a restriction on posting because new people registering often have the need to create a thread to ask a question, especially in our newcomer forum.
