    Re-rolling jmod

Hi, i'm thinking of rerolling Jmod on monarch shield.. obviously lol. I found a monarch in LK chest(the one that is near the fire) and look at the item level using Gomule. It say item level 80.

I read from somewhere, to reroll a jmod, you need monarch ilvl 77 and abv. So just to confirm, this shield is re-rollable to get jmod?

The item lvl goes down each time you re-roll; your shield may be re-rollable once (can't remember the formula), but after that it becomes useless. I wouldn't bother since the odds of getting a JMoD are abysmally low; basically each re-roll is like finding a magic shield off the ground. How many JMoDs have you found? Exactly.

Diadems are re-rolled by some due to their unique property of being able to get all affixes at all item lvls, but even then it may not be worth it in the long run (takes 6 pskulls each time).

The ilvl remains constant with the 3 perfect gem recipe.
That said, it's not worth the bother. The odds are 1:15000, so you'll need upwards of 40k pgems.

Ah, right. Forgot it was a magic item. Been a long time since I played D2...

If you want a 'lesser' version of JMoD, Artisan's/Jeweler's Towershield/Kite Shield/etc of Deflecting can be shopped from Hell Charsi and Anya; I got two Towershields last Ladder, but I was lucky. Iirc it's something like 1:4000 and the max is 3 sockets ofc. These shields are much cheaper than a JMoD too, if you decide to buy one here or on Bnet.

What is the price of a JKSoD? I have one, but noone seems to know it's worth/want. I play on EUSCL.

As for the number of Pgems required, i think i can slowly roll because i am playing single player, so no hurry.

@MartinLong: AKSoD went for 2 HRs last Ladder. Was towards the end of the Ladder though, and even then it's hard to find a buyer. I ended up selling my AToD for 10 Ists on the Etf due to not finding buyer on Bnet; I was told it was worth 1 HR. Now the Artisan's mod makes the shield have a lvl req of 25 (iirc) meaning it's good for low-lvl duels; the Jeweler's mod raises the lvl req to 47 (iirc), so it's worth less. I think you can still get 1-2 HRs for your shield with some patience.

@wishyQ: Yes, your shield can become a JMoD with re-rolling. However it will take 40k+ pgems *on average*... Meaning 50% chance I guess. Someone in the linked thread said that with 48k pgems spent you'd have 66% chance of getting it. I wouldn't bother unless you can spare a few years for it.

There's one other way that is only possible on SP that I didn't think of (I always played on Bnet when I played). You could find a rack that drops Monarchs and keep running that. The specifics of rack running are pretty intricate; you should find info about it on the SP forum here at incgamers. I think it might be your best shot by far, provided you can find a rack that drops Monarchs consistently enough.

    Re: Re-rolling jmod

It's funny how people are tossing cute number of 45000 perfect gems around actually that easy.

JMoD is cute and all, but you need to ask yourself how much it actually gives to your character. It saves you about 100 dex for maxblock on lvl 99. 100 dex = 300 life for amazon (I'm calling it amazon here cause I don't see point of making JMoD for non amazon class). For PvM you use 7 skillers + gheed as grand charms.

So you have 300 life saved from JMoD, but if you don't have good enough skiller GCs, you are saving life wrong way.
    300 / 7 = 42.8
So if you have 7 x 43 life skillers then go rolling JMoD. Amount of life saved in the end will be equal.

Average you get one skiller GC per 21 reroll so those 45000 gems would produce ~2100 skiller GCs. Even if you roll JMoD in expected 45000 you will have JMoD and... nothing else. Rerolling Baal GCs will net you with tons of skillers, max/ar/life GCs, allress/life etc. It's much better investment overall.

Before going into such task think about how much do you actually need that JMoD and how will your character(s) benefit from one.

I found JAoD and JMoB over years of playing D2. I don't think I found 45000 pgems total. Just keep IDing those blue 4os capable shields and hope. JMoD or not won't break your character. Go and shop nice 3os/deflecting shield somewhere for starters and see how much do you like it. That fourth hole isn't worth so much.

That would be awesome! I hope some people get back and start playing D2 then! This season has been dead so far.
